2007 Milan Sunroof Drain

Recently I've had issues with water in the driver's side footwell. Sometimes it's wet after it rains, sometimes it isn't. It's only wet underneath the floor mat towards the front left and there is no water anywhere else. I've soaked the car with a hose and no water is coming in through the door or the roof so that led me to the sunroof drains. Apparently my car had an underbody coating done at some point before I got it and I think the drain may have been covered.

So my question is: does anyone know where the drains for the sunroof run to on the underside of the car? I've searched the forum and the internet to no avail.

They're going to run down the A and C pillars, obviously.

Where they exit out the car, I'm not entirely sure. If I remember, I'll try taking some water out to mine and watch.

Most sunroof equipped vehicles have the drains on the A & C pillars depending on the make/model. The drains are very small; one small seed or debris from a tree and next thing you know, wet interior. Really a two person job; one to pour the water, one to inspect.

Thanks for the suggestions. I can hear it drip when I pour water down it, but can't see anything on the ground which is what lead me to believe that it got sprayed over when they did the undercoat. My next guess would be the hose is leaking before it gets outside of the car.

Ok. I think I know what your problem is. I was able to find the drain holes and tubes on my Milan. On your sunroof, there should be 4 drain holes. 2 in the rear (not easily seen), and two in the front (left and right). Both of them have 3/8 tubes going down. The driver's side tube goes down through the pillar and by the footwell kick panel. You can kind of see it as is, but its easy to remove to get to. Behind the kick panel, there are some wires and a little pocket (metal). The water collects in here, and there is another drain hole at the bottom (Can't see it, but I can feel it with a finger). Interestingly, I had some moisture in that pocket, but the hole at the bottom allowed for water to drain out of the interior of the car. My guess is that your drain hole in that pocket is clogged. I couldn't get a picture due to the location, but you can feel with your hand inside that pocket to get an idea. If that hole is clogged, the pocket will fill with water and eventually overflow.

My guess is that dirt and debris got caught there.

Thanks Pancakes! I found them. It was finally dry enough today to pour some more water down the drains to see if any made it inside and as far as I could tell none did. I guess the next step is to pull the carpet back in the driver's footwell and see what I can find.
