Who here has replaced their factory stereo system? I replaced my headuint with a sony CDX-GT300 and speakers with 4 polk 5x7's. With the new headunit and factory speakers the stereo sounded great, if a little tinny. With the polks the sound is much cleaner, with well defined mids and highs and more accurate bass. My only complaint is when using the aux input with my ipod the highs on some songs get staticy. Ive tried changing the equalizer settings and turning down the ipod volume, but the static persists. It is faint but noticeable. I never noticed it with the factory speakers and it dosent do it with my sirius when connected to the same input, just the ipod. Ive been wondering if replacing the 3.5mm cable with a Monster gold plated one will make any difference.

So the four speakers in the door are for 5x7 speakers? How about the holes in the rear?

Do the holes in the front (for tweeters) hold a 2" or 3" tweeter?

Installed a Kenwood Headunit with the Kenwood Ipod Interface. Works great. My Kenwood does not have a wired remote input so I could not install the Steering wheel adapter interface from PAC. There is a wireless steering wheel adapter but it doesnt work in sunlight so I did not do it. The wireless remote that came with the head unit is just as convenient as the steering wheel. Did not change any speakers yet. Does better speaker stop some of the buzzing and rattles or is the rattiling in the doorpanels.
