Which stereo do you have? Standard, audiophile, Sony?

If it's the standard 6-speaker, it shouldn't have an external amplifier.
Said it before but I'll say it again, there's a link to wiring diagrams in my signature, including 2006-specific radios (at the bottom)

Edit: Wasn't the base radio on the 06's a 4-speaker? I thought they didn't have the tweeters in the front doors.

If it's actually the Audiophile system (with 6x8's in the rear parcel deck)... one amplifier is in the trunk behind the right wheel well, dunno where/if the second one is located (might be for the MKZ w/ THX)

I blew out the internal amplifier on my stock headunit. That's how I sold the chrome-trimmed buttons
