I posted this is the wrong section the first time.. sorry guys..
I just got my 06 I4 Fusion.. I have the 16inch wheel w/ the lovely ol hubcaps on them. I looking to moving up in rim size.. I've been told if i want to keep my MPG, should stay w/ 17 and thats it, i was looking to go 18 but affaid it will kill the I4.. dunno, just seeking opinions..
Any 16 or 17 wont throw off your MPG or your speedo. Wheels specs are a 5 X114.3 or 5 X4.5 which ever you wanna call it. I currently have 17X7s on mine now and love them. To each their own, and hope this helps.

That is why i went with 17's on mine as well. Did not want to have that extra rolling mass and did not want the speedo off

Well i went to the tire shop my budy owns, i discussed it with him and this is how i came up w/ getting 18s....
A. Its only 1 size up from the factory 17 inch, so will not effect the car so much it starts throwing everything off....
B. Right now, w/ the wholesale prices, there isn't a difference in price for the 17/18 inch.. They are the same price. The tires is where the price diff. between 17 and 18 is...
You should be worried more about the weight of the wheel than it's diameter. There are heavy aftermarket 17s that would cost you more performance than a lightweight set of 18s. The only problem is, quality lightweight 18s are expensive.

well i'm not out for performance at all, just don't want to kill the I4 or my MPG.. I just went w/ a pretty chrome 18. Will have pics when they come in..
I haven't seen a Fusion with aftermarket wheels that looked good. The fancy "sculpted" spoke wheels the dealers throw on really look stupid. That crap might cut it on a rusted out '83 Monte Carlo, but not on a Fusion. Should have taken a pic last night of the one on the dealer lot. Made me want to puke. Especially when I saw what they charge.
