ooh, for the wintv, is that hardware based? i can't seem to get my MSI to catch every frame while i'm dragging a window or something. maybe this can allieviate that.

there's hardware-based (there's a dedicated processor in the card that does all that) and there's software based (the card's main purpose is to get info from the TV, the rest of the processing [decoding/encoding] is done by the CPU, which takes up cpu cycles and gets interrupted when you drag a window or scroll).

easier question to answer.  when you're recording a tv stream with this card, does your CPU go above 10%?
