The only way to comfirm that a Fusion has a similar problem to the Mazda v6 is to see if the engine calls for the same PCV, or if they have different part numbers.

As for smoothing down the intake manifold: Sure, it's possible and it may add a horse or two at the top of the rev range, but it is quite a bit of work. And, you have to be certain you clean up your mess inside the manifold, since any particulates will flow straight into the cylinders being that it's after the air cleaner. Not sure you want bits of melted plastic on the cylinder walls... :p
