So ford racing has a transmission cooler and I was just wondering if anyone thinks it would be worth it or if its just a waste of $50.00

If you live in a warmer climate, it probability won’t hurt it but I have to say, Ford has done some interesting things with the computer and programming for this Automatic Transmission. Believe it or not, the 5 speed automatic locks up the torque converter in 3rd,4th and 5th gear and if the transmission over heats, it actually locks up in 2nd,3rd,4th and 5th gear, to help cool it down. This is pretty high tech! :csweeney:

I think it's a waste of money. For the past 7 days its been at or near 100 degree's and I haven't seen a difference in shifting at all. You should be fine. Go to a strip club with those 50 dollars lol. :klavergreg:

A COOLER MAY INCREASE THE LIFE OF YOUR TRANNY. EVEN IF YOU DON'T REALIZE ANY PROBLEMS NOW OR NEXT WEEK MAYBE YOU'LL NOTICE IT WHEN YOU HIT 1OOK MILES AND YOUR TRANNY DROPS AND OTHER GUYS WILL HAVE 150K MILES ON THEIRS AND THEY STILL RUN GREAT. HEAT IS A REAL BIG PROBLEM IN AUTOMATIC TRANNY'S. KEEP THEM COOL AND THEY WILL KEEP YOU HAPPY.

well thanks for the input. I think if I actualy come across 50 bucks that I just cant figure out what to do with then i might get it. I live in boise ID which in the summer its a steady 90-100 degrees for a couple month plus I kinda drive hard on the car sometimes..lol.. but it doesn't sound like it would make a huge difference so im not going to worry about jumping on it right away.

I asked the service manager at the FORD dealer about a tranny cooler today as a matter of fact. (I'm in Outside Sales and spend some time in HOT bumper to bumper traffic)
He reccommended against it.
he said you shouldn't "add" things like that to the tranny because it may effect the operation.
Said just change the fluid at reccommended intervals and you'll be fine......course that was HIS opinion....I'm going to get a few more
