I have an appointment next Tuesday to have my headlights tinted on my black Fusion.

Has anyone tried this yet? If so, do you have any pictures?

Are you having the outside tinted?

Rumor has it that it won't effect the light output much.

I would be curious to see the inside housing of a Fusion headlight painted. Like on the SVT Focus and 04 Focus.

[/quote]I dont know how a tint on the headlight cant affect the output. Thought about it, and then I thought better of it.

I have thought of painting my lights too, but dont have the balls...yet.

Yes, I plan on having the outside of the headlight tinted.

Well, looks like we'll all find out tomorrow night what it's going to look like. I'm bringing my camera with me so I can take pictures during the tint.

I thought about taking the headlights apart and having the chrome parts re-chromed to a black chrome, but figured that tinting them would be cheaper & easier.

Well, looks like I won't be tinting my headlights. I called the state police to see if I'd get stopped for having that done, and low & behold I would have. I don't need anymore trouble from 50.

DAMN IT!!!!!!! :(

My next idea is to see if I can take the headlights apart and re-chrome them in black chrome. (except for the part that needs to be chrome). I plan on re-chroming the grille in black chrome, so I'd like to keep it looking the same.

Has anyone out there looked at www.lamin-x.com? I am considering doing this in blue or yellow. It is NOT supposed to diminish the light intensity when lit. It protects against chipping, cracking, pithing and dulling. They have sheets or pre-cuts. I have heard that the gunsmoke is too dark and does decrease brightness. They are going to come out with tint versions and possibly a red or amber and maybe?.....................green. Whatdayathink?

Why would you want your headlights to be green, red, or something like that? I mean, all you guys wanting to mess with coloring your headlights -- they help you see at night and help others see YOU just the same. For a show car, sure. Daily driver that is on the road all the time, no.

Swoop,
My sentiments exactly. I just don't get it. Like you said: Show car, sure; street machine, no way, an invitation to be hassled by the police.

The blue and the yellow DO NOT change the brightness of the headlights, it is purely for aesthetics (esthetics) depending on the Latin or German spelling. If you want to be real boring they also sell CLEAR. For cryin' out loud everyone on these threads is doing something to their Fusions to NOT make them look or drive stock, So whatupwidthat??!! Have some tea and eat a biscuit.

If you knew anything about wave propagation and principles -- you would understand that ANYTHING put infront of a light source will diminish the light output. I don't care what color it is -- be it yellow, green, orange, "light urple", or even clear. The more layers it has to pass through is going to keep it from being at it's full capacity.

Hey, it's up to you ultimately. I don't mess with that shit. I hope if you do get them, you are made to take them off, personally.

I've seen some done like this (usually smoked or red) I like them just the way they are myself, stock lights already need to be brighter, not dimmer which is what tinting will do. I'd advise against it especially with stock lights.

Jeeez.........this is a touchy group. I wish that all these nuts that put these damn EXTRA bright lights in would get ticketed by the police for blinding people. I mean really how goddam bright do you need your lights? These people think it's neat to fry people's corneas? I had headight covers on my Camaro back in the day, never had a problem......ok ok easy , I won't get the tints. I need everyone to sleep well tonight!

Jeeez.........this is a touchy group. I wish that all these nuts that over-react about lights in would calm down for being more mature. I mean really how damn immature do you need to be? These people think it's neat to give others a hard time when they are only trying to help? I had headight covers on my Camaro back in the day, and it wasn't safe......ok ok easy , I will tell you I won't get the tints on the Fusion. I need everyone to believe me!
