the 3.0 and 2.3 both use a chain....belts are for JAP CARS

yep, they use a chain. Luckily, you get more mileage from a chain but it does add a little more engine noise.

From what I've read, Ford engines destignated with 'Duratec', are all chain driven.

2.3 has a belt guys. ford doesnt make a 4 cylinder with a chain. as far as i know that havent made one in over 50 years.

But the V6 uses a chain 8) as it should be, noise be damned

yes the v6 has two chains one for each head. well really it has 4 chains if you want to get technical. they have 2 smaller chains to drive the exhaust cam in each head.

I remember working on my friend's 1988 Ford Escort GT 1.9L SOHC and it had a timing chain, but most of Ford's 4 cylinder engines do use belts.
