Re: Things you DON'T Like about the Fusion, Milan, or Zephyr / MKS

cos,

Yeah I have it lowered as far as it goes down, and I have it reclined back a bit (more then I would like) and the headliner just clears my head. If only they had made the sun roof opening a little wider :) I'm 6' tall but I have short legs and a tall upper body. Normal 6' tall people probably don;t have any problems. I'm just a mutant. As ming321 said, the seatbelt is anchored a bit low as well. I had plenty of room in the Fusion without a sun roof. I really wanted the sun roof though.
Re: Things you DON'T Like about the Fusion, Milan, or Zephyr / MKS

the only complaint i have right now is the location of the trunk release button. countless times at night, i'll fondle around trying to get the dome lights on and accidently push the trunk release.
Re: Things you DON'T Like about the Fusion, Milan, or Zephyr / MKS

At just over 1000 miles, I don't have too many dislikes, and what I have is kind of picky.
1- Poor interior lighting...needs footwell lights and seperate rear seat dome light.
2- 4cyl is a bit noisy, but the car is so quiet it may cause you to be more sensitive to the engine noise
3- 4 speed ventilation fan...should be 5 speed, and the fan is noisier than I'd like
4- slight hesitation with 4cyl auto when you are "rolling" through a stop sign and hit the gas
5- key fob is too big
6- no remote start factory availability
7- rear vision is poor...be careful! backup sensors should be standard fare.
Re: Things you DON'T Like about the Fusion, Milan, or Zephyr / MKS

The leather seats are sectioned in an uncomfortable way. The seam closest to the back rest should not be there. I find my butt resting on it, and when I hit a bump it feels like I'm sitting on a wire. I then shove my a$$ in further up against the back rest and the problem is solved.

Without that seam there would be no problem.
Re: Things you DON'T Like about the Fusion, Milan, or Zephyr / MKS

I agree that rear visibility is pathetic on these things. I have almost hit somehting more than once backing up.
Re: Things you DON'T Like about the Fusion, Milan, or Zephyr / MKS

Yes, the rear visibility is poor but that's tradeoff for a HUGE trunk. Would you sacrifice trunk space for better rear visibility?
Re: Things you DON'T Like about the Fusion, Milan, or Zephyr / MKS

I'd shave a small bit of trunk room (10%) for better rearward visibility. However, doing so may adversely effect the awesome styling of this car.

Things I don't like about the fusion.

I have Black paint. Very hard to maintain. Next time silver. But hey, I still love the color black.
Just wished they used a better color black.

4 Cylinder = TOO QUIET! At least 50% of the time I forget to shut my car off at the pump,
and the gas attendent (New Jersey, we don't have to pump our gas!) didn't even know my
car was on. I'm GOING TO BLOW UP!

Literally
My turn signals don't seem to turn off automatically when merging off a hwy with a curvy offramp.

I also don't like that my heated seats turn off automatically and don't turn back on automatically.

Trust me its better this way...

I had a SVTF with heated seats. I was able to turn them on and they would stay on as long as I didn't hit the button again... (and therefore turn on again once I got in the car again).

The driver's side burnt out just after my three year warranty. Cost to replace was too expensive, so I got rid of it.

I think with them having the timer and you having to reset each time you start up, it'll prolong its life.
Turning radius is brutal!, and it is a bigger problem than I thought it would be. :(
The only thing I really don't like is that the SEL does not come standard with ABS! I could have bought a Hyundai that has it standard!!! :x

My car also is missing wierd options.......no auto dimming mirror, no trac. control, no auto headlights........but everything else?
Let's just say I am amazed at some of ways things are assembled on this car. The interior trim especially (mostly). I seem to have quite a few rattles and everytime I investigate where they might be coming from I found another piece of trim that is loose. So far they do not seem be the one that is causing the rattles. Most pieces seem to be fitted between other pieces with either one or no screws. Like the bottm of the "B" pillar, not a single screws and it did make some noise. The rear seat trim has 1 screw at the bottom and something at the top (not sure-some kind of pressure fit) then the sides just snap into the body, loosely. I now see that the trim on either side of the rear deck seems very loose and looks like only one pin or screw holds in on (haven't investigated this yet). The defroster vents are not clean fitting at all. Cheap clock, no folding mirrors, no glove box light. The seats are not solidly attached (ie: very floppy)These cars have no undercoating !? Torque steer, eliminated on most other cars today, is alive and well on my Milan. The dealer also had to adjust my subframe to get my car to align properly and not drift to the right (is good now though). Gas mileage so far is uninspired (4 cyl. -about 23.5 mpg, I was getting 21 mpg in a 6 cyl. Mazda 6 wagon- but that had a whole host of other problems).Style is nice, the exterior seems pretty good and the car handles well. Basically I like, not love, the car. I know these aren't "expensive" cars, but they aren't "cheap" either (at least not in price). However, this could have been an excellant car. After 4 "Ford" products I may have to go back to Honda's in the future since 2 of the 4 have given me disatisfaction. If I can get rid of the rattles and the gas mileage goes up abit in time, I may grow to love the car...hopefully. It seems to me if Ford took a little more time at the factory level it would save money on the come backs at the dealer level and be ahead of the game, both monetarily and with a happier, repeat, customer. Well enough for now

So far, my one observation of things done wrong is the Speed Control Off button on my SE steering wheel.
When on the highway, I wind up using my thumb and first 2 fingers to hold the wheel at the 8 oclock position next to the Off button, It's easy to trip it and dump speed control mode, and I easily do that.  So all of a sudden I'm slowing down in traffic.
I needs a side shield to prevent that.

Other than that so far:   8) 8)  :D :D
I have noticed a lot of complaints about the poor rear visibility...and I guess it is pretty bad, but with both my wife and I being ex-semi truck drivers, we use the mirrors to back up anyway, so that doesn't bother us! :D

The things we don't like, but can live with are:
When we turn on the heat or A/C the fan is ALWAYS on "high" by default...never had a car like that before. We must manually turn the fan down to a lower setting.

We don't like the idea of a hood prop, I will be converting to the "gas struts" pretty soon.

Don't like the "delay" when turning on the stereo..seems to take several seconds to come on after one pushes the "on" button.

HATE that "cartridge" type oil filter.....another conversion in the planning stages!

As a previous poster mentioned, I can't count the times I have accidentally "popped" the trunk while fumbling for the overhead interior light switch at night while going down the road.

And last, but not least, since we're both smokers...no ashtray or cigarette lighter...was told there wasn't even a smoker's package as an option! (sheesh)

I have a few suggestions for your problems.

1- There is a TSB on your heater/AC problem http://www.fordfusionclub.com/index.php?topic=60786.0
2- I added the Redline tuning hood struts to get rid of my hood prop. http://www.redlinetuning.com/QL-FORD-FUSION-06+.html
3- I know ford has the ash tray / Lighter available as an aftermarket option. Check out the link. http://www.partscheap.com/fusion.htm
Everyone is being so picky!! Remember, its a 20K mainstream car, not a 35 K Accura.

That said, I have had no rattles, no loose trim. Yes it has some torque steer, but you get used to it. No big deal.

Only real bitch is the large turning radius, and the poor visibility out the back. But I would not trade my large trunk or awesome styling just to see what's behind me. I look before I get in and back up cautiously. Again, no big deal.

Could use brighter back up lamps, and brighter low beams. I'll look for aftermnarket on these. Anyone have any ideas?
Other than that, its a great car for the money.
Yes, for 20 G it should not have rattles! Mine numerous rattles. Torque steer should be accient history. I have had a 2004 Mazda 6, a 2003 Protege, 2003 Tribute and numerous Hondas since 1978. No torque steer since my first Accord. Interior fit and finish? Go look at a base Accord or Civic. In my Milan most of the dash vents are warped and poorly fitted! So if some us are picky it's because I work hard for my money and every rattle sends a shooting pain right through my wallet and in my a**. These things are just Ford saying push it out the door and let the dealer fix it if the customer complains! Yes, this is a $20,000 mainstream car, but the interior and noisy 4 cylinder are screaming $15,000!
It's kinda funny that a good number of the complaints are about things you should have noticed before you bought the car. Does nobody test drive before they buy anymore?

I agree 100 %  I love this car and everything about it.  I would by another one in a heartbeat.  I have no rattles and I learn to back it up. I feel for the money this is a great car.  If you want a car that has no flaws go buy a BMW or Lexus.
