Re: Things you DON'T Like about the Fusion, Milan, or Zephyr / MKS

1. I don't like that I couldn't get a manual transmission with the V6.
2. I don't like that I bought an SE in November with the "sport package" that was only aluminum wheels and the 6-disc changer, and now they have the "job 2 sport package" which includes fog lights for about the same money.

Just two very small annoyances (which I will eventually get over) and are things I had in my previous car (Suzuki Aerio).

No outside temperature display and I really miss the digital speedo from my Suzuki (as ugly as it was).

Also, I find the auto transmission is missing a 'shiftronic' type setting.

[/quote]I have the outside temp display, but maybe it's only with the Auto Temp Control? I think it should be standard on every car.

none at all, except the annoyance of the window dots, defying tinting,
but that is a FORD thing, and some other cars as well.

I really don't see the need for the tiptronic, it's not a sports car. although
they should have added a manual option for the V6. but as far as my car goes
there is nothing I don't like, I love the chrome, although it could have been
real chrome, or at least polished aluminum. not the plastichome that they use.

I like 99% of this car but the headlights are gonna get me killed. low beams suck especially the drivers side (Fusion SEL)

the door trim pieces that are between the windows, that scratch way too damn easy,
other than that no problems, or nothing else, although I would prefer a throttle cable to
drive by wire. and no Glass or Headlight issues, my lights are ok, I can see just fine at night
with the lows.

Re: Things you DON'T Like about the Fusion, Milan, or Zephyr / MKS

Before I start, I want to say, I did not buy this I-4 Milan to be a racecar. I wanted a nice quiet four door sedan that had good leg room, ergonomics, a lot of creature features with decant fuel economy and of coarse, pleasing to the eye. This automobile fits that category, very well.
That said, as I have stated before, if I could have purchased this package with a six speed automatic and more final drive gear, I would have. I am still looking for a 40-mpg package of this size, without the complexities of the hi-bird. (Sorry All You Manufactures) I still don’t believe you have pulled all the rabbits out of the hat.
This I-4 engine is what I wanted and for its size, it really produces a lot of power but I need to focus in on one small factor that could have made it a better power package.
It seems to me that Mazda’s first four automatic transmission ratios would have been a better selection, to get the weight of the automobile, moving quicker.

Mazda Ford
3.62:1 3.50:1 First Gear
1.93:1 1.86:1 Second Gear
1.29:1 1.24:1 Third Gear
0.93:1 0.90:1 Fourth Gear
0.69:1 0.69:1 Fifth Gear

3.86:1 3.86:1 Ring & Pinion Final

2.6634:1 2.6634:1 Overall Final

Ok, I don't like 3000 rpm at 70 mph, and 3400 rpm at 80 mph. The manual needs a 6th gear, and less of a step between 1st and 2nd gears. Also, it would be nice to have some torque below 1800 rpm. Trying to accelerate in 2nd gear at 1500 rpm can be a scary experience. I want DFI now with an additional 20hp to boot! This car has less than half the displacement of my 1997 5.4L F150 and comes in at 3100 lbs as opposed to my 5500 lb loaded truck. It should, logically, get far more than twice the mpg as my truck but so far it does not. I am only able to pull about 2x the mpg of my 4x4 1997 F150 flareside. Truck = 13-14mpg city or hwy, Fusion = 26-30mpg when driven very conservatively city or hwy.

Would be nice to have a locking fuel door.. :) When you spend this kind of money on a car a locking fuel door should be standard.

Regarding the Fusion-
Dash lighting and lack of on some controls, radio display (aka. looks old and dated) , no traction control offered on I4, no stability offered on any variant, no MT offered on the V6, no leather option on the I4, no heated seat option on I4 or without leather seats, SAB and SAC (side curtain air bags) not standard, no rear cabin reading lights, fit and finish not consistent, some very cheap trim parts (too many to mention), as mention by previous poster regarding the lack of power window one touch up (on both front windows), plus can someone inform me if the power windows(any of them) have the  anti-trap feature. Also can someone let me know if the front passenger seat has a tilt feature(for the bum cushion). Reason I ask is my brother just purchased a MY2006 Freestyle AWD Limited and the front paxs seat does not have tilt.

Last thing is the rear end treatment, it just doesn't balance with the rest of the edgey look. To me it looks like a fancy Nissan Sentra.

1. I wish I could have had gray interior. The Stone we got is too tan for my taste, and I had black interior in our last car and thought it got too hot.

2. No factory Sat radio

3. Turning radius is a little long, not a major problem, but since I'm being nit-picky

4. Poor rear visability. I had to add reverse sensing system since I wasn't comfortable backing it in the garage. I wish they'd have made this available factory.

I miss my glove box light and the lack of rear lighting when you have the sunroof. (Rear is pitch black at night)

As others have already mentioned I'd like to see a locking fuel door and a darker interior, a gray or charcoal and available on the S model. The "stone" is nice but is to tan/light colored.

Not much headroom with the Moonroof.

I think the front seat sits too high.

I don't like highbeam, wipers and turn signals on one stalk.

Rear visibility sucks, they should have a backup sensor option.

Center arm rest seem to be back too far.

No lights in the back with the sunroof.

Having to press the text button on the radio to see song info is annoying. No aux jack for the radio (fixed in 07).

Being able to lower/raise all the power windows with one button would be cool, or with the key (VW) or remote (I think the zepher has this).

Lack of daytime running lights.

I hate hood props.

locking gas cap would be nice.

Manual tranny in the V6 would be sweet.

Another 30 lb-ft would be nice, but like I said in the "What I Like" thread, the 6 spd transmission does a great job of getting the most out of the engine. I want a tiptronic feature so I can shift my own when I want to. Rear wheel drive would be great (but it's never gonna happen). The recline adjustment for the driver seat should be electric. More interior storage space- I would prefer the storage that's on top of the dash to be on the botton- under the AC. I-pod jack on the front of the stereo unit. Stronger headlights and locking fuel door.

bitdrift,

Have you lowered the seat all the way? I've tried the seat in different heights and it certainly seems like it'll fit a a lot of different height drivers. How tall are you?

COS- your post reminded me of one more. The seatbelt needs to be anchored higher up on the B-pillar. The seatbelt pulls against my left shoulder and after several hours in the car, my should is very sore. I had the same problem with my Focus. My seat is as low as it will go and the seatbelt anchor is at the top- still not much relief. I'm 6'3", so I doubt shorter people have the same problem.
