Re: Things you DO like about the Fusion, Milan, or Zephyr / MKS

There are many things that I do like. I can't think of any right now...I need to be in that mood, and I'm not in that mood right now. I'll get back to this thread.

Like the styling, the ride, the handling. Decent sized trunk and rear seat. Great dash, well laid out, everything works without being glitzy or techno. Wood grain looks fine, doesn't scratch like the piano black.

Leather seats are comfy, great in the winter when i crank up the heat. Best 22k car on the market. :klavergreg:

Interior room is great.

Like the 6-Disk MP3/CD player.

Steering wheel controls are awesome.

Nice big trunk.

I like a lot of things, but the thing that stands out more than anything is the 6 speed automatic transmission. For years, American cars rarely offered 5 gears- much less 6. The engine doesn't have as much power as it's main competitors (Accord & Camry), but the transmission does a great job of getting all the power from this engine. If it had 250hp to work with- watch out!

I also like the fact that I don't see myself 10 times on the way to the store- although I'm seeing more around lately. It's definitely more unique in it's styling than the Japanese. Gas mileage is good too- but I'm coming from a V8 so it should be.

Now, things I do like.
1- styling...the best looking sedan out there by far especially given it's price
2- handling/performance...no qualms with the 4 cylinder, although secretly I'd prefer the 6, I just wasn't in mind to pay and extra 2G's for it
3- interior layout...some don't like it, I find it very comfortable, but the extra powerpoint inside the center console is not very handy
4- roomy...my 5'11" 235 pound football frame fits nicely.
5- stereo and steering wheel controls
6- not everyone has one...yet, anyway
7- minimal n/v/h...Ford seems to have worked overtime on these issues
8- anxious to see how it responds to midwestern winters

That's certainly more the tires then the car. Want traction? Get a set of snows like these Hankook W300 mounted on steel wheels. If you haven't experienced a set of modern snows you'll be amazed at how good they are.

Yeah, I had the battery out for 30 minutes last night (doing some covert work). I expected all of my stations to be whiped out this morning, but they were still all set!

Okay Chris06Fusion, I'll do my part :chuckles:!  Hello everyone!.  Have a 2007 MKZ.  Love it :D.  I think the styling and stance of the car are both terrific.  Plenty of room for four full sized adults.  Interior style, refinement and quality are great.  You have to see the white instrument lighting at night to appreciate how good it looks!
I intentionally waited for, and factory ordered a 2007 for the switchover to the 3.5 liter, and am so glad I did.  Don't get me wrong, the 3.0 liter engine is a fantastic motor, but the 3.5 really transforms the feel of this car, both in power and refinement.
This is the first car I have ever purchased that did not have one single quality control problem off the assembly line.  The paint was flawless, and fit and finish are perfect.  I am still studying the owners manual to uncover all the hidden electronic "extras".  For example, I live in NJ, and if it is raining you must turn your headlights on, or risk being ticketed.  In the MKZ, if you turn on the wipers, the headlights automatically activate.  The auto up and down windows.  Speed sensitive radio volume control.  Dual auto adjustable seat/mirror settings, with primary and secondary driver buttons on the door, which can also be programmed to the individual key fobs.  This especially comes in handy, as my wife is barely over 5 feet tall, and on a rainy day, when I need to drive the car after she has, I no longer have to get soaked while lowering and moving the seat backwards to avoid cracking my skull while entering the car :bash:!  The heated and cooled seats.  Just too many features to even try listing!  This car has so much bang for the buck.
Anyway, enough preaching for now :blah:.  Good luck to you all with your new cars!

And in addition to my above rant, I now add this! I just gave the MKZ its first full wash and wax yesterday, so discovered another like! The windshield and rear window are frameless. No rubber or plastic trim surrounds. When waxing previous cars, wax getting onto window trim was always a problem. You would need to go back over the car with detailer and a toothbrush to get the wax off the trim and out of the crevices (yes, I am a little fanatical, I know). No such problem with this car. Same thing with the areas surrounding the side glass. The sheet metal has a sort of "wrapped" or rolled look, so it is much easier to wax without getting wax on unintended areas.
I feel this frameless look also gives the car a "cleaner" and more modern appearance. Thanks for listening! :D

I have extensive posts on the dislike thread. So I thought it only fair to post what I do like also.
1) The car handles very nice-even with the 16" Conti's
2) The exterior styling is what appealed to me first, good looks.
3) The interior styling is also well thought out and appealing
4) I purchased the 4 cylinder due to $$$ & gas mileage, I wish I had the six, but the I4 has very nice pick up for a car this size with a 4 cylinder.
5) The warranty was nice to begin with (but I did extend it to 4 Yr/100,000 since I drive approx. 20,000 miles/yr.)
6) From the JD Powers reports, Mercury had very high reliability ratings (I own a Milan)

One of the most important facets of car ownership is being pleased about how a car looks. The Fusion is distinctive, bold. Even a nice-looking (to the owner) set of wheels needs to be reliable in order to be fully appreciated. The Ford trio -- Fusion, Milan, MKZ (Zephyr) -- has achieved some impressive marks from consumers and professional reviewers for the 06 models and the 07s should be even better. The fit and finish on our SEL AWD is as good or better than anything I have seen or owned. Outstanding.

The car's amenities are ample, stylish, functional and pleasing to the eye. The Fusion has enough innovativeness to have flare, but enough engineering to earn high marks in the common sense arena. Practical does not have to be dull.

The rice machines, as good as they once were, still have a sameness about them. It's hard to tell them apart. It's nice to be different in a positive way. I predict the Fusion will leave an even bigger plus mark in the automotive world than that established by the Taurus when it first arrived on the scene. Hopefully, FoMoCo will do justice to the Fusion name in the future rather than let it die on the vine like it did with the Taurus.

In short, my wife and I like everything about our new Fusion except the poor gas mileage we have experienced for the first 500, a horrific 13 mpg in-city. We will give this situation some time to improve, however.

The Fusion is a winner in every sense of the word, as is the Milan and MKZ. We hope this is the start of something really big for the FoMoCo, which is now an underdog in the U.S. automotive marketplace.

Handling is great.

Looks on the outside are phenominal.

The black color, and my lightbar makes it loook like a great cop car.

Interior room in the backseat, especially when both front seats are all the way up. You could have an orgy.

Trunk space, steering wheel audio controls.

Headlights.
