When looking at the car today, I noticed that my fusion already has a stock strut brace-like piece kind of attached to the firewall.... I also noticed that the tower struts are very close to the firewall itself, so I was asking myself if it was worth it buying/installing an aftermarket strut brace (like the one Steeda sells) will actually do any noticeable changes?

The people that already have the tower strut brace from Steeda, any opinions on improvement or noticeable changes in handling etc?

A Fusion doesn't have struts. This means the load coming through the top of the spring/shock is not lateral, only vertical. So even if the the structure of the car was weak, a bar wouldn't help that much. If you want to reinforce the suspension for handling benefit, you'd need to run a bar at the level of the upper control arms, right through the V of the engine!

But others have run the steeda bar and have said it improves handling.

I just bought the bar, and had it installed for about 300 miles.... here are my thoughts:

I have not noticed any gains when going into corners. I have noticed the car seems to be more stable when going over bumps at highway speeds. This is just 1 of may suspension upgrades I plan to do to the fusion.

what do you exactly mean when you say more stable over bumps ?

while it may not add any real benefit in a cornering situation, I do know what he means about it feeling more stable. Just like adding a crossmember anywhere else to the car, it will make the entire chassis a bit stiffer.

Does "a bit stiffer" simply means it rides rougher? I had a strut bar on my Neon. I rode significantly rougher -- enough to where I wouldn't want to mess with the smooth ride of the Fusion.

I did not notice any rougher ride on my 98 neon sport but then again i had it set up for autocrossing and time trials so it had an entire prothane bushing kit sold motor mounts ACR springs and GRS Struts. Plus the front and rear bars.

If it's "all show", why not just buy a cheap e-bay one for the 6? The Steeda one isn't really very "showy" anyway..

Who said anything about buying one.... Fusions do not have STRUTS...... I bet you that my Fusion with 245-45-18's handles a corner just as good or even better than a Fusion with a so called "STRUT" tower brace......

i am sure it would because tires make a ton of diff on the streets. The stock 16's on my car bite that is part of the reason i got aftermarket wheels and tire because they not only look good but perform way better than stock.

Why is it called a strut tower if there are no struts? What do we drive on parkways and park on driveways?
