The passenger seat in my 2006 SEL V6 Fusion (cloth seats) is squeaking/creaking like crazy when someone sits in it and we travel over bumps/dips, take turns, etc...whenever there is a force on the seat. This noise goes away, of course, when no one is sitting in the seat.

I've had the car in twice to have this fixed but it hasn't been fixed correctly yet. The noise is so loud it concerns me that the seat could not act properly in the event of a crash (it would too easily fall apart, collapse, etc.).

Has anyone else experienced this problem and if so, how did you get it fixed? Is there a TSB?

I have the same exact problem. It just started doing it last Friday night. It drove me crazy.

I just turn up the music to tune it out. Though it is really rare that someone travels with me.

So it may be a while before I get it fixed.

I have the same issue. SE with Leather.

I think it is the plastic trim that goes around the bottom of the seat. I was able to reproduce it when I was cleaning the trim around the doors and the seats.

I could be wrong though because I have leather and I just figured they where rubbing. You have cloth so I would assume that would not occurr.

any thoughts??

Dealer says it is the bolts that hold down the seat track. They have been tightened but the problem has not gone away...after being to the dealer twice.

It sounds like it is coming from the seat itself and is a structural fault of the seat, not the track. I think it is just the seat frame itself that is squeaking and they don't want to replace it...especially since they installed heaters for me in the cloth seats and they'd have to re-do that now too.

My drivers seat sorta squeeks. I noticed it when I leaned back on the seat with a little force. It's not a loud squeak though, and I noticed it after they replaced the lumbar support. I'm not worried about it, as it's very faint and doesn't happen all the time.

Driver's Seat Squeak

Does anyone else have this? It's pretty annoying. i'll have to bring it in for sure. It just developed since it's been cold. i also have a "tick" sound that comes from the steering column area over bumps. Are these common?

Believe me, I have had the same problem, and they have finally found it at my dealership.

The problem isn't the bolts that hold down the seat track, it IS the seat track. They had to pull out the old and install the new. I get the car back tomorrow so I will post the step-by-step instructions (and also make sure that it's indeed fixed).

My problem with seat squeaking didn't occur whenever I was driving down the road with someone in the seat....in other words, if we were driving on level pavement and someone jumped up and down on the seat, it was not likely that the seat would squeak. When I went over a pot hole, again the seat would likely not squeak. However, if I flog the gas hard enough or go over some kind of hump (speed hump, etc.), or turned left, the sound will happen. It's almost like a creaking sound.

Well, apparently the parts didn't come in today, but I rescued my Fusion from the clutches of evil. So far there have been a huge number of follies with this service visit....almost jokingly so.

The guy did tell me that there have been a handful (less than 5) cars that he has had to do a seat track job on since the Fusion's release. He did justify that the pain in the butt of keeping my car there the majority of the week was indeed worth it.

With the acceleration/deceleration rattle and seat issues, it's pretty sad when the girl behind the counter says "I should know your name - you're in here all the time getting rentals and checking out"......sure I take both my car and our Explorer over there for service and the like, but that's still kind of sad. No defects with mechanics - so far it has been all fascia on this car. Hopefully they got it right with the 07's. But, from what I hear, the 07's are clean.

Warning - if the dealership has to fix your seat for seat track issues/squeaking, make sure they don't tear a big gash in the side of the passenger seat and don't tell you about it until you realize it four hours later. That's what happened to me.

Did you talk to the general manager of the dealership? Heck, I'd probably call the regional rep for something like that. Sorry to hear that happened to you.

Well, installing the new seat track did get rid of the squeaking. There's no doubt about that.

My service advisor was pretty cool about it. Even he said that, with them having the car for a damn week and a half, he said that anything could have happened to it. He was very cool owning up to it after putting up initial resistance. I told him that with no kids at home, I am WAY too anal about my car to not notice something like that.

Then he said that with the location where it was, he says that it almost looked like someone with a screwdriver in their back pocket was sliding down the seat and nicked the seat. Since no one I know would have an exposed screwdriver in their back pocket when they are getting in my car, he knew it was on him.

They had it fixed the same day. He is nervous that I'm going to send a negative eval to Ford since he told me I'm about 99.9 percent sure to get one with an open ticket for more than a week. I told him that he was safe but the people in Michigan are going to be getting an earful.
