Ok, I'm handy but I'm clumsy! Could anyone share instructions on how to replace the door speakers? Like panel removal, etc. I would just like to be armed before I attempt to do this! Thanks for the help!

it's super easy. for the front doors, you open the little cover in the door handle and remove that screw. then you remove the screw in the pocket of the panel where the window switch is in. then in the top outside corner (the upper right hand side on the right door) and along the bottom of the panel there are two screws. take those out, disconnect the wiring blocks for the door locks and windows, and then you can pull the door panel off. the whole panel comes off and it's easiest to start from the top where it meets the window. once you have it off, you can remove the factory speakers and install your own. your best bet for doing that is to get some wiring harnesses that just plug into the factory wiring and give you the two coaxial speaker connectors. also with the front doors, you CAN install a crossover (to take out the bass) so you can run the factory tweeters along with the speakers, but if the speakers you put in have them already, it's too much high frequency sound for your ears. after you put the speakers in, make sure you test them before you put the door back together (and save yourself some work if you messed up). when you put the panel back on, make sure the plastic standoffs are in each slot in the door panel and then just line them up and puch them into the door. they will click as you push them in. push all around the perimeter of the door so you push them all in as much as possible. as for the back doors, you take them off the same way, except they don't have a screw on the bottom of the panel and you don't have to disconnect a wiring panel for the power locks button. obviously if your speakers require some extra installation or something special, do it.

whew! that's a long one. i went ahead and put in a panasonic dvd-player 7" touch screen, two sets of polk audio db570s, and a little 100w bazooka sub. enough to let me know it's there without rattling the car.

Very good instructions...Thanks for that! I'm just waiting for money to get everything, but I like being prepared before I attempt to install anything!

Thanks for your help!

where did you put the bazooka sub ? trunk?  i wouldn't want to loose trunk space..and i don't like the look...is there any way i can add bass by installing something on those 6x9 holes in the trunk ?

I am about to buy some component Boston speakers for the front, but they won't fit int he back...is it a bad idea to mix brands ? one brand on front and another in the back ?

About to get Boston Acoustics SL80 Component Plate System for the front and a set of JBL Power Series P8652 for the rear.

i put it in the trunk all the way back, in a horizontal orientation. it fits nicely back there. as far as different speaker brands, it's just for aesthetics; you can have pioneer components in the front, kenwood 5x7s in the rear doors, and alpine 6x9s in the back. it's up to you. you could prolly get some 6x9s and use a crossover or something like that to cut the highs and high-mids out, so only the low mids and bass go thru them. it wouldn't make up for a sub though. however, i HAVE thought about getting two 8 inch speakers and mounting them in the little cavity right behind the back seats, facing each other.

is it possible to put the 2 front speakers in those 2 holes on the top of the trunk for the back deck?

I was wondering, cause I changed all 4 doors speakers, and wanted to put those factory speakers I just took out on that deck in the back with some plates if possible cause I know they're another size holes. ...any suggestions???
