So how do we define this position? What is it for?

Well, here's what I put in the public description:

1. Schedule or help to coordinate the schedualing of relatively frequent meets, get togethers, and events among Mazda3Forums.com and MazdaSpeeders.com and other forum users.
2. Bring the concerns of your regions users (this being especially important internationally) to the attention of the FMVperformance staff and administration
3. Moderate your regional section
4. Promote FMVperformance sites (and encourage others to do the same) in your area. This could include talking to aftermarket companies and dealerships, among other items. This is especially important to the job.

Also as was said, this obviously is a coordination position - there's no way you could do everying in your rather large regions yourself. Just keep tabs on whats going on, encourage people, things like that.

But more important is trying to make business contacts, especially with dealerships.

And always remember - this is about more than the Mazda3 - work with all Mazda's. We have our general mazda site, as dead as it is (MazdaSpeeders.com) that we're now trying to promote.

So what questions do you have, what more should I say?

This forum is set up for you to share ideas/etc.

Here is a basic idea that I want to put together for the SW region, and I'd encourage other regions to do the same. BTW - this has only been a thought so far, this is the most I've written it down so far -- that means I'm open to suggestions.

The idea is to have recommended lists based on forum user input. Right now, the thought is to sticky and lock them (meaning I have to maintain the list updates, but keeps it clear and to the point, no stray threads), but the first post would be the call to collect data, the second post would be the list.

Without letting the stickies get out of hand, I'd foresee two main topics, broken down further inside the list:

1. Recommended Dealerships / Dealership Ratings
Here you would collect data from the other users of where they bought the car, and where they service the car. Have them rate the dealer (just like mazda does) from 1 to 10. Keep it simple though, for example:

Dealer: Almaden Mazda, Capitol Expressway, San Jose, CA
Recommended for Purchase: 7 (out of 10)
Recommended for Service: 8 (out of 10)

2. Recommended Vendors / Aftermaket Ratings
This is the more promising topic, as it pertains to everyone. I used car audio in the example below, but it could be anything from Jiffy Lube for an oil change, a custom body shop for paint and rims, to the glass doctor that came out to fix your window.

Vendor: Auto Sound & Security, Sunnyvale, CA
Services: Aftermarket Car Stereo, Alarms, Window Tinting (Johnson Films)
Recommended: 7 (out of 10)

Like I said, this is in the early works - your feedback is helpful. I'll continue laying the framework for this, and will let you know when I've got it down.

The main reason I want this in SW, it's one of the biggest topics (aside from people trying to find who lives near them). People want to know what dealerships are good, and where to get windows tinted - big in Bay Area.

That looks like a great idea. But i don't know about the locking part. Because some of your local members should be able to add to the list. Maybe do the same thing but let the members add recommendations and then you can add it to your first post list.

That was another thought too - I just didn't want the thread to get too out of control with people whining about their bad experiences (especially since that's what the bulk of SW seems to be, judging by the posts).

Like I said, work in progress.

I thought it might be easier to get a PM or email, then update the list with new info (original post).

Ok, here is my question. We are out there, trying to bring sponsorship to the site. How about a mazda4forums.com email address? I talked to Zobx about this a while ago. I wanted to make business cards up for the forum and leave them, strategically placed, on other mazda3's. I feel we would seem more like a representative of the forum if we had an email domain of the site.

I suggest a port to an already existing account, like a [email protected] can go to my yahoo or gmail account.

Is that a possibility?

the CNJ people actually have our own biz cards and we hand out to people or leave on other 3's. I dunno if Ally show you brian. I like the e-mail idea although [email protected] seems a lot easier and less to write

Yeah I saw them, BUt a point of contact is key, and an email address related to the forum is better than some schmoe yahoo address.

Especially for people representing the forum.

BTW, most of hte RC's don't even use this section for some reason. Guess they are kinda lame.

I Need to order more cards cause I dunno if I like the whole design of them and mentalcase put his name on them for point of contact yet he hasn't done anything...hasn't even been active lately. But we just have our forum name on there and not a e-mail so they would have to sign up. So an e-mail might help getting more contacts.

M3F email addys are available ... and they'll be directed where ever you want them. But you need to talk to Dan (the man) to get it done.

They're only available for "staff" positions - I believe that means anyone with a badge of Staff, SM, RC, Mod, Admin. They're the people that have been already chosen to represent the forums in some capacity. You'll need Dan to create the name and point it where you want the mail to go - it's basically an email redirection address, though I believe he used to actually let people have server space and whatnot. Not sure if that's still an option.

I think "staff" postions should get the e-mail addys over everyone cause thats alot of space and bandwidth. But an full e-mail system would be super....get on bugging him jim
