Does anyone know how to remove the chrome side window strip- without breaking it.  Thanks

Yeah, the chrome strip really sets it off, thus being an SEL.

I replied to this once, but it didn't take, so apologies if it shows up twice.

I have ideas about things to do to my car all the time, and like to get the opinions of other "car people". I used to have a car, can't remember if it was my Infiniti I30 or Benz E320, but the side window trim was not chrome (even though the remainder of the car had a lot of chrome). The window trim was a metallic, dark gray- almost anodized looking that was really cool. I just wondered how difficult it would be to remove and paint with Duplicolors Metalcast paint. I like the chrome on the Fusion, but the side window chrome is a bit lost by itself, unlike the front that has the grill, fogs, etc in chrome. By the way, my SEL V6 is Tungsten Silver. Thanks

Ok, removing the trim is way easy- remove one screw inside the door and it slides out. Should have looked before I asked the first time. I'm testing my paint technique on some scrap plastichrome to see how it looks. So far it looks promising. I'm going to let the test piece dry overnight and see how durable it is tomorrow. If anyone is interested, I'll let you know how it looks.
