Cursory look seems to indicate it may just clipped on, and could be very easy to remove. Anyone done this, or know any gotchas, and the right procedure?

I have a rear spoiler that mostly blocks it anyway, and has a built in break light anyway. A friend also commented my car looks dorky with two third break lights anyway.

I hate the third break light since it causes the rear view mirrors autodim to malfunction by blocking the headlights from hitting the sensor but still letting them shine in my eyes. :x

you could always disconnect that light since your spoiler has one, know people that have done that, and I'd be wondering if there's any carpet under that inside 3rd brake light, if your talking about totally removing it.

Look in the truck. That was my key to success for removal while tinting my windows. There are like, 2-hook-shaped things, and two nubs.

Once you get a look, it'll come right off.

Great thanks! I had seen those but didn't want to experiment without some advice ..

Does it remove upwards, or down into the trunk?

Step #2, finding something to go in its place that looks stock-ish.

Has anyone removed it? Is there carpet underneath? I am having the same issue with it blocking the headlights from behind hitting the sensor for the auto dimming mirror. I would like to remove it when I put a spoiler on with a LED 3rd brake light.

so simple to remove but leaves you with an ugly view of the 5 holes......4 clips and 1 for the light bulb....a nice flat airfreshner will work or if you have a wife that can do something creative...put her to work ASAP and make that fusion look good......

I just put on a spoile with integrated brake light. If I simply remove the bulb from the light in the back window, will the Message Center display anything like "rear brake light out" or will there be no effect?
