I've seen in some forums that the 6 cd changer stereo with 6 speakers is supposed to have RDS...my manual makes reference to it, but when I search through the menu on the radio there is no setting to turn it on or off...any ideas? also...does adding 2 speakers to the rear shelf (like the audiophile system) help balance out the sound? it seems the sound is front heavy, despite trying to shift it to the back door speakers (why would Ford put the rear speakers in the door when the back shelf is the logical place!)

RDS = Radio Data System. It showes the station name and song titles. I am pretty sure that this option is only avl on the audiophile system. As far as the rear speakers go... It does seem to sound better with the speakers there.

I don't have audiophile and my RDS works fine.  I get song names and station names.  I do have the premium 6 disc option, no A-phile.

I have the same stereo system...did your stereo have it on automatically or did you have to do something to it? I see a trip to the dealer in my future.

My neighbor has the non audiophile 6 disc changer in his fusion and he has no RDS. Sounds like you got lucky!

Look down a little ways in this forum for the subject, "Radio Data System (RDS) capability". You'll see at least a couple of us members had the dealer replace our radios and got the RDS working.

I am having the same problem. SEL 6 cd/mp3 and no radio text. CD text works. I called the dealer and had to leave a message and still have recieved no reply. Let you know if they fix mine when I get in touch with someone at the dealer.

I know I had it. But my battery has been disconnected a lot for service and for installation of things. I just don't know how to get it back. I really don't want to go all the way back to the dealership, 1/2 hour drive, its a bitch. But if you guys figure out how to get it back. Let me know. BTW, go to a different ford dealership you want your car detailed. I have gotten my car detailed twice for free. $200 value.

I had the premium version of the 6 disc changer but the radio did not have RD(B)S as advertised in the manual, not the audiophile. I did however point out to my dealer the mistake and after about 3 trips to the dealer (to have the stereo tech trying to flash it) they eventually changed it out for the audiophile version. Now RDS (missing the B from the radion itself) is working just fine. I can only suggest if you do this, one: be nice and continue to point out the misstype in the manual and two: be persistant (but poilite). These two things got me the upgraded radio at NO cost and I am happy.

Wow. I'm gonna try that next time I go. The only problem is my dealer is liike 30 mins away. Gas I don't care about. It's the drive. Crazy schedule. But the polite thing, I'm a pro at. :chuckles:

Excellent news...I have yet to resolve this problem but I am preparing for my first oil change and I will bring it up then. Did they also add the extra speakers to the rear shelf? Now THAT would be commendable service! I've read elsewhere that the only difference in the 6 disc changer like our and the audiophile system is a little more power in the audiophile (not a lot) and the two extra speakers. I think this one is great...excellent, crisp sound. Always be polite, kill them with kindness and you can always become more assertive later.

I did not add the additional speakers, I am however buying the harness for the Audiophile so I can run my amp for my sub from this and make the installation a little cleaner.

FYI to everyone who is adding a sub to the car. I went to my local 'Fryes' electronics and I was quoted a price 150.00 for a custom sub to be added to the passenger side of the trunk. With this I am adding the following sub so I do not intrude the trunk space: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/v3/pg/product/details/0,,2076_310069927_297564759,00.html

If you read some of the reports on this sub, they are bad, but when I spoke to the company and to the tech the issue is it has to be installed in the proper box. Of course this is the key to any good system (installing it correctly). (sorry for the tangent)

No I didn't get the complete audiophile but everything now works and plus I have a few extra functions with the new ratio.
