Hello All,

I'm thinking of getting a portable nav unit for the Fusion and wondered if any of you have had experiences (good or bad) with specific units that you would like to share.

Fusionowner I have owned two GPS units the last few years. The first is made by Lowrance. Excellent unit, a great deal of routing options and more detailed data information on the screen. I had a 500C, which had a huge screen and now has been replaced by the 600C, in my Taurus but it was too big to fit on the dashboard of my Fusion so I sold it. They make smaller versions of the IWAY now and if you want a unit that is not "dumbed down", then I would suggest taking a look at the 250C or 350C.

My present unit is a Garmin Nuvi 660. It is expensive but the screen is nice. It has a built in traffic receiver and bluetooth. Bluetooth works well, traffic receiver so-so and is an extra charge to receive/subscribe. It is compact, easy to transport but the Garmin software is "dumbed down" so not as many screen options/details as the Lowrance. There are about 14 different Nuvi units on the market now. There are less expensive units w/o bluetooth and navigation. http://www.garmin.com/garmin/cms/site/us/ontheroad/

If you want the option of bluetooth or an easy to operate unit go with Garmin. If you want a great unit that allows you more options/information for routing, POIS etc. take a look at the Lowrance.

Here is a user forum that I used in making my decision: http://www.gpspassion.com/fr/default.asp

I have owned several Garmins including my current street pilot 2610, they are the best units on the market. They do a great job on map software, better than the OEM units that I have seen. I buy from www.gpsnow.com they have some great reviews there as well.

I went with the Garmin Nuvi 360 and found it for $439.99. Great deal on a great portable nav system!

Thanks to all of those who responded.
