Ok so here it is, I finally got around to installing the DDX-7017 that I picked up for $577. I also got the Ipod controller and now my Ipod resides in my glovebox. This is a very nice unit, the screen looks very good. I also switched the button illumination from red to green to match the dash. The audio settings are endless, the highs were really loud and were piercing my ears. It took me a while to find a setting I liked but overall it sounds awesome. I bypassed the parking brake switch so it can play movies while the car is moving. Yes this is illegal but I really can restrain myself from looking at the screen while driving. I still have add to a nav unit and reverse camera but that will come later. Here are some pics, hope you like.

I got it at the BX (store on base that is like a wal-mart). The only reason it was this cheap is because it was the last one they had, they usually sell it for $899. I've seen some on ebay for 650 refurbished. If you want a brand new one, be prepared to pay for it. The Ipod adapter goes for around 60 bucks, and the steering wheel adapter is about 70.

I can vouch for the Pac unit. I installed one with a Pioneer headunit and it works great. Your install is very sweet! Kenwood also has a couple of real nice double din units that I saw after I purchased the Pioneer. They are also nice, but I am happy with the Pioneer unit. Good luck with it.

Looks great, what trim piece did you use to get it to fit in the dash? I take your stationed at Lakenheath, I spent three years at RAF Fairford.

I never though of it you could make a fortian on E-bay shopping at the bx.. Oh yeh, Great buy, great install. I seem to never use my steering controls anyway, so going without it for a while wouldn't kill me. They won't control your DVD options anyway! You've earned my respect two ways. Thanks for keeping us safe!
