I took my car in to see if they could reprogram the PCM because my rpm idle last 5 minutes. What they told me is that when the colder it gets outside the longer the rpm idle will last because here in Chicago it gets real cold, so, yeah warming the car first is a good idea, but the service guy told me that Ford just resently told them to stop reprograming the PCM or TCM to the latest calibration. Until the car detects that something is wrong, than afterwards they could do something, but yeah Ford told every dealer to stop doing that. I dont know if he was lying or telling the truth, maybe someone in here could give me a heads up?

that is BS! I took my Fusion V6 SE in yesterday to my dealer. Told them what it was doing, then told them the TSB #. I told them I didn't want anything done but the reprogram. Well, they did the upgrade but told me that there was even a more current one than the one I got off here. Afterwards the check engine light came on while they test drove it and they had to call Ford. Turns out they forgot to manually enter the cruise and traction control in and they had to go back and manually do this. But they never told me they couldn't do it from Ford. They finished it up, I got in and started it and it started like a regular car. Fired up and immediately, I mean IMMEDIATELY went to idle. I drove it home and it's like a totally different car. It no longer hunts for a gear and seems like it's always ready to launch. Also, there is no longer the lag from the accelerator when you give it gas. Once you hit it, it goes with no lag now. I recommend this reprogram to any fusion owner whose car was built before Sept. '06. You will feel like you're in a different car. The 6-speed is now actually fun whereas before it was only fun when it was gunned at highway speeds. This car is fast!

the throttle lag will be taken care of with the TSB # 06-18-6, which is the old number. i don't know the new one but it supercedes what I just listed.

The new TSB# 06-18-7 is the same as previous other than added poduction date. Also Ford hasn't told me to stop doing reprograms and I'm a Ford tech. Ford told us not to reprogram PCM's unless we have a TSB or Recall calling for it. I reprogrammed mine and what a difference it makes.

Hey guys, does this go for the 4 cylinder to? I mean, at first when I got my fusion, it drove great, and really made me excited to drive it.
Yet over time it just feels like a regular old car, so could I go and complain and get my PCM reprogrammed even though I have a four cylinder?
And how much does this cost?

TSB# 06-21-11: "This article supersedes TSB 06-18-7 to add a production fix date." "built before 9/4/2006"

To check production date look, at the sticker on the drivers door jam. It will have a date..that is your production date. Also when you take it to the dealer they will check to make sure it applies.
