There were problems with the testing of Fusions and the alternators were burning up. That was definitely an afterthought, odd design, but hey it works. That might have a REALLY hard time cooling the tranny though!!! LOL!!!!

Yep, it definitely cools the alternator with "ram air", at least on my 2.3. Makes sense that they'd need it because the exhaust must throw a lot of heat into the alternator. Is there a cooling tube on the V6? How about on the Mazda 6 4 cyl?

Man thats exactly what I was think. Definetely not for the tranny. Goes straight to the alternator
