According to this Autoweek article:

http://www.autoweek.com/news.cms?newsId=103757

Fusions are selling like crazy, and dealers cannot get enough. Some dealers are selling them at price premiums and one dealer even had a waiting list. Apparently production is falling short of expectation, but not that short, and is now up to 900 units a week.

Personally I've yet to see a dealer with more than 6 F/M/Z cars at one time, and that was a combined Ford/Lincoln/Mercury dealer. This situation dosen't make things easy for people wanting to buy the car. But this car really needs to succeed, Ford Motor Co. as we know it depends on it.

Wow. The dealership salesman did not lie when he told me,"The Ford Fusion cars are super limited".
Glad I got my '06 Ford Fusion SEL V6 fully loaded.  :D

This limitation shall bring lots of value to the first 50,000 vehicles. I bet no more than 20,000-25,000 were Fusions productions. Wow. This could mean that the leather interior will become super rare if Collins & Aikman go out of business.

The dealer I picked my Fusion up from had a number of them on the lot and in different colors/trims. Most important though, they had the color and trim I wanted with the options I wanted immedialtely available. I test drove on Saturday and drove away with it on Monday. I have only seen two others on the road in the last month. When I first got my Mustang, everytime I turned around, I saw another one. I like that this car isn't all over the place right now and I'm enjoying the looks I get because of that.

I was eating at a restaurant, and sat by the window so I could keep an eye on the car. Anyway, this older couple was looking at it, leaned over to look in the window, looked for the name of the car, but I took mine off. All it says is "V6", I took off "Fusion" and "SEL". Anyway, I could see them talking, and looking at each other like the couldn't figure out what it was.

After a few more circles about, they left.

Then, some kids in a Honda pulled up to it. They got out and were looking and pointing at the little ground-effects kit and the spoiler and junk I got on it. It made and still makes me feel good everytime.

It was freshly washed a few hours earlier, too. 8)
