WTF....of course they come out with the good V6 options after I buy a brand new car. Should have held out, that 300+hp 3.7 sounds pretty nice in a regular cab truck.

"Fords motto is to give the people what they want"

It's about damn time an American manufacturer started doing this!!

Back on topic though, lots of options now makes things a little easier for those who just want a work truck that will haul their not-so-industrial gear around (saws, drills, etc...) without being forced to buy a gas hog V8. With the V6 you get 300hp which is perfect for the average person who just wants a truck to get from A to B and not pay an arm and a leg for gas.

I didn't see any mention of transmissions, though. Hope the base 6 comes with a MT....

If I buy a pickup truck, I want a bare bones model with a 6 cylinder, MT and rubber floors.
Buy a Ranger then lol

I believe it said in there that all were mated to the 6-speed auto. The only difference was the torque converter which would be based on the motor option chosen.

LOL, no thanks. If I wanted to buy a vintage truck, I'd just buy a vintage truck.

I don't like compact trucks, anyways. Short wheelbase, light weight and stiff springs adds up for punishment. I'd be ok if I never have to drive one again after having to drive my dad's Tacoma down to Corpus Christi and back.
I hear ya. I can't deal with the tinyness of the Ranger. If im going to buy a truck I'd buy the big F-150. I like the space.

So if you could have gotten the base F150 you wouldn't have gotten the subie? They are nothing alike!

I was really, really close to buying an F150 at the end of last year. I just like them.

Of course, it's probably better that I didn't since, like you, we're going to soon have the need for space for a baby and the entourage of things that come along with one.

It's rare that I have just one type of car that I'm shopping for.
Yeah, F150 may not be too practical for a baby. I guess a crew cab would be ok. Meh, either way a GTI isn't too practical for a baby either..it'll just work.

Since you're so tall, make sure that a baby seat will fit in the middle of the rear without you having to move your seat up too far....

Other than that, I think it's (the VW) a very practical car for a baby. You can stack all of their crap up in the back and have it easily accessible. Better than a sedan at least.
I thought about the baby seat issue. I have it mounted rear facing in the passenger side of my wife's Rav and I still had to move the front seat up a seat. There is a TON of room in the back seat so it scares me a little w/ the GTI. I'm just going to bring the seat and stroller to the dealer w/ me and try putting it all in. If it's too much of a hassle the the GTI will have to wait. Not to go too far off topic since this is an F150 thread but the MKVII GTI is ugly so I have to get one now before it changes.

Don't worry, there is no actual topic for any thread I start

Yeah, the car seat thing is always a kicker. It's tight in my sister's TL and I had a friend that had to sell his Jetta because of it. My OB has a large backseat and I think the Escape will be fine since my wife's short. I'm not very tall (5'11"), either.

Since we're on the topic, how's your wife doing? Was it just false labor?

Not 100%.... still no diesel offered ;) Not everyone "needs" an F250
There aren't too many differences between the F150 and 250 other than the diesel engine. The diffs on the 250 are slightly larger but you can get a similar tow package in the 150 making it near the same truck. To be honest..I don't even know the difference between a 250 and 350.

You could always buy a Mahindra. :hide:

Having driven all of them.... difference is HUGE in the drive, weights, fuel economy. The 350 FX4 is a kidney smasher when not loaded down. Stopping and parking it is a bitch too, well I was driving the 4 door long bed. Almost 21 ft long. ;)

Then y'all would be jealous

They were supposed to go on sale here this month, but now there's a legal battle between Mahindra and the importing entity. :dur:

My neighbor across the street has a F450 as a daily driver. Granted it gets used for heavy duty work quite often, but it still seems like overkill.
