I have put about 1,600 miles on my Black Fusion SE V6, and thought I would post my observations:
1. Exterior: I think Ford has hit a home run here. Several people have complimented the car and asked "What kind of car is that?" I seem to have the only one in the area. I was originally interested in a black Milan with a 4 cylinder and a manual trans., but could not come to terms with the dealer. A different dealer traded with me for the Fusion with the V6 for less money than the first one wanted for the 4 cylinder Milan.
2. Interior: Despite some posts here about rattles, this is the most solid vehicle I have ever owned. I have not heard the first squeak or rattle, even over rough pavement and potholes. I would like an oil pressure and battery gage, but I think the instrument cluster is very attractive. Red and blue lighting are trendy, but I think green is still the best choice for the eyes. I really wish the dash had the silver accents and the clock from the Milan. Car magazines have criticized the stereo as being old-fashioned, but I think it looks great as is. Tons of room on the insisde and in the trunk.
3. Handling/performance: The car handles like a dream on twisty roads. Drives "like it's on rails" as they say. I think the V6 has plenty of power, although you can always use more! 6 speed transmission is smooth, but hesitates on downshifts.
4. MPG: I have been very underwhelmed so far. The sticker said 29 highway, and most of my driving is highway mileage, but I have gotten nowhere near the advertised mileage so far.
5. Future mods: Tinted windows would look awesome on this car, but I have read about the difficulties with the dots on top of the rear window. What purpose do these serve? I didn't even notice them until after I had bought the car. Has anybody looked into installing aftermarket fog lights in the recessions on the front of the SE? Can you order the factory driving lights and chrome surrounds from Ford? I notice that spoilers are beginning to become available on the internet now.
Overall, I am highly impressed with my Fusion, and would recommend one to anybody looking for a fun-to-drive four door.
