Message Center audible Warning chime?

The reason i ask is because i rented a taurus for some time and it would never warm you with a chime when something displayed in the message center..I Remeber almost running out of gas at one point When i DID NOT notice The "low fuel level" message in the display until it had been on for a while (Kinda Scared me!)

I think I saw a low fuel message once since I've had mine, don't remember a signal, might not have heard it over the Radio anyway. that's what I use the gas guage for.

There is an audible chime when you have low fuel... below 50 mte.

the chime is very quiet though.

I remember when I was test driving mine a chime sounded when the fuel was low. It is rather quiet. I think its the same sound the door ajar makes when in drive.

I don't think mine makes a noise for low fuel .. maybe the first time .. but deffinately not after .. maybe mines broken.

hmm... That's funny.. some do some dont i guess?
I always thought a warning light grabs my Attention way more then some little screen in the dash..
Im sure it's just a single chime when a message comes up?


If anyone is low on fuel or any other warning comes up try and listen for a chime if you can..

I've never heard the chime for the low fuel. But I've seen it on the screen a few times.

No low fuel chime in my car - just a message.

Just figured this out today. Low Fuel message appears on the dash at 1/4 tank. At 1/8 tank Low Fuel message appears accompanied by warning chime. Try it out. 8)

No chime on mine at all that I've noticed, although I've seen the message a few times. Not sure about the 1/8th tank thing; when I first purchased the car the dealer promised me a free tank of gas, so I ran it pretty low (message center read 8 miles to empty), and I never heard a chime.
Now my '04 F-150 work truck will chime loudly when it approaches E, makes me feel like a missle is locked on my tail or something. :shock:

My Milan chimes at low fuel (50 MTE) and displays Low Fuel in the display. To clear that message you must hit the info button then the reset button. It will chime again and redisplay Low Fuel at each 10 miles of the miles to empty points. The chime isn't very loud.

mine makes no noise at all. Ive seen the message a few times and never once did I get a chime. last time i saw it was in the parking garage at Yankee Stadium... the radio and AC were off. I am sure there was no noise.

No chime for me as well.

Let's just say the chime is pretty unmistakable if your "miles to E" gauge goes to 0.

So when that "Miles to Empty" hits zero it really is empty? I've had it down to 4 miles before filling up. Now I know I won't tempt it any further...

I tried to test my Milan just after I bought. I ran in down to "zero miles to empty" then drove it 30 miles more. At that point I was at work and filled up. 556 miles total on that tank of gas and it took 17.4 gallons to fill. My average MPG was 33.1. My guess is that you have about a 1 gallon reserve.

The message center in my 04 Taurus would chime when the "Check Transmission" message came on.

One of the reasons I got a Fusion..........
