this is for my Brother in law
they have a Mazda mini van 02' with 115k on the ticker, auto tranny. Yeah they bought it new. 1 owner
He had his tranny just die on him the other day. Pulled up to a stop light, mentioned as he came to a stop it sounded and acted a bbit funny but thought it was just the road or presence of other traffic...went to tap the throttle as the light changed...it gave a shutter....and absolutly nothing...reved to 5 grand and nothing. got towed home.
No they have never towed andything with it. Just hauled around themselves and 1 small child.
he is very fussy about his maintenance had tranny oil &filter changed every 30k. So pretty confident it is not from abuse or mis treatment. When he bought it he made sure that it had the tow package, which ment it had the tranny cooler.
any ideas as to what happened ..what to ask about?? or a better site to ask this question??
He's getting qoutes that range from $7k -$4 to fix it which seem to be on the high end.
anybody else have simular issues?
