My Lumbar Support doesn't work either. I crank it all the way and it won't stay. On my 97 SHO the lumbar support was electronic,or power , I've never had a problem with it, still works great at 120K miles...now Ford goes to the manual lumbar support and after 1 month it's already having problems. I'll drop it off for some warranty work in the next few days. Also, Open the back door on Your Fusion and check the little black plug around the door frame...Mine is missing on the drivers side, it looks like a mouse hole. Just a 50cent piece of plastic, not really a problem just an oversite on the assembly line.

I have mine like, 1/2 a turn. I don't like it, I have my seat laid back pretty far to accomodate my height, and it's pretty comfortable :)

Same here on the Milan too.... ack :dur:

Does this forum have a TSB or problems section? I couldnt seem to find a specific place for these issues.

also, does anyone see corrosion on the screws on their doors around the latching mechanism? It seems at least one screw on each door has some sorta corrosion on it. :huh

and the rubber on the top of my driver side pillar molding is starting to pop up and the plastic liner behind it seems to be creeping up and out.

I have an appointment to get mine fixed next week.

The service manager says he has never heard of any fusions having the problem.

I explained to him it was happening to alot of Fusion owners and that Ford had a new design coming out at the end of the month.

Then I told him about the TSB about the PCM and how there was a upgrade flash for it and he said he never heard of that either.

I guess they either havent sold alot of Fusions or no one in Orange (CA) knows about this website...

Instructions from Ford say not to replace any more till new part comes out.  Chances are they will install the same part and you'll have to go back when the same thing happens again.

I had my seat apart yesterday when I put the leather seating surfaces on. The lumbar support mechanism is pretty cheesy. The knob adjusts the length of a cable which is attached to an adjustable plastic mesh that runs arcoss the lower back of the seat. When the cable shortens, the plastic mesh is squeezed together and creates the pressure that you feel through the seat surface. At the end of the cable is a metal "T" connector which is slot-fitted into the plastic. I don't know where they are failing, but possibly either the plastic is coming apart or the connection between the cable and the plastic is coming loose.

Just as an FYI, I got mine replaced today. I dropped it off at lunch, and it wasn't ready until around 4:30. When I got in it, the Airbag light was on, so that took another 15 minutes to clear...but other than that, it works great now. The service manager was stilled surprised that this happened....I told him I bought a first model year car....stuff is gonna break, no worries!

Just thought I'd share!

Mine popped the other day... Maybe they should find a new way to do the lumbar. I had a Mark VII and a Continental, and they both had electronic lumbar. Push the button one way, air fills the ballon to your liking. Push it the other way, it lets the air out.

I'm getting this taken care of tomorrow.  Do they just replace the broken one or the one in the passenger seat as well?

Just the broken 1.
