I have a loaner car and its a 2006 taurus. It has the 3.0 in it but not sure if its the same as whats in the fusion. That thing really goes.I punched it at a light and the wheels wouldn't stop spinning I actually had to let off of it. It has one of those onboard command centers and it was showwing that I was getting 32 mpg avg. I reset it this morning before I came to work and It stayed around 31 and 32mpg. It has 25k miles on it. If this is the same engine and tranny. Thenyou v6 guys might have some good gsa mileage to look forward to in the future.

That's most likely the Vulcan. The Duratec in the Taurus usually gets ~25mpg.

Vulcan ? Never heard of that but I do know that it has the 3.0 in it and its a 2006 but its strangley getting gas mileage in the low 30's

The Vulcan was not a 24 valve engine and was a strong runner

The Vulcan 3.0 is a traditional OHV engine rated at a mere 155 hp. It has been around the Ford lineup for a while.

So there for it isn't a double overhead cam engine. Never really hit me until now. It didn't have dohc. They were narrow heads so maybe it was the vulcan. But it seemed like it had lots of power. Had it up to 105mph. I was expecting a governor to cut it off there.
