License Plate LED Lighting Walkthrough:

Please excuse the dirt ... we've had 2+ feet of snow followed by above freezing nice weather ... crazy sloppy roads!!!

Remove the two screws

This is where you have to pry

Gently pry out the bracket

This is the bulb to remove

Replace with LED bulb. This is polarity sensitive. + vs -

Replace bracket being careful of the prongs.

Side by side

Night view

I got the bulb from a local small auto lighting store ... 2 bulbs (36mm festoon bulb) cost 12 dollars CDN.

Super cheap/easy Mod. Looks amazing.

While it's pretty self explanatory on how to do this..I'm going to sticky it. I'm sure it'll help someone out in the future and write ups with pics are always welcome.

Thanks.

Hey CVeldkamp.

I picked them up from UniWay. SW corner of 111 Avenue - 156 Street. They also do HID's ... probably my next project .... that and the front marker lights.

Very nice. I'm going to do this myself, as well as replace the tail lights with LEDs. Do you have a phone number for the store (I'm being super lazy today  ). I also would like to do HIDs but not sure how they'd work with the projector lights in the '10 Fusion. (I too am from Edmonton). Are you running stock tail lights or LEDs?

They are very good if a bulb burns out they'll just throw you a new set no problems.

Also ... the 2010's really don't like the HID's check my post http://www.fordfusionclub.com/index.php?topic=186180.0. They do look awesome in the projectors though.

I'm running regular bulbs in the tails for now.

The weather in Edmonton sucks :(

I will be for sure checking them out, thanks! As for the HID's, well... with the issues that you ran in to (and the fact that they are considered illegal) I think I'll avoid them altogether. LED tail lights and turn signals is where I'll stop. :D

This is for DreadX, how many LEDs are on each bulb that you used? I've seen some advertised with 2 and some with 4. Your installation looks great and the instructions are perfect.

Trainass, got any pictures of the LED tail lights?

Not yet. I need to get my hands on the resistors first... If I can find a garage, I'll do them before winter ends, otherwise it'll be a few months more... But I'll post a few pix. (now back to the original thread topic)

Hey guys ... the bulbs I have only have two diodes in each bulb ... I wouldn't go with more ... there are two bulbs on the plate so four diodes .... the light already lights up the ground behind the car.

Don't give up on the HIDs so quick ... I already tried returning them for a refund. They said no (I knew they would) ... so I'm going to try the in line resister. If it goes well I'll pass on the info. With the HIDs in a projectors they look factory and unless you go with higher than 6000k I'm pretty sure you wont have a problem with the police.

Sorry for the delay in replying to your question.

The LED tail lights that I got were discontinued, but these should be a good replacement:
http://www.v-leds.com/Exterior-LED/Brake-Light-LED/Red-LED/2-RED-7443-V-LEDS-M-SMT-p4810367.html

you'll also need one set of these (It comes in pairs):
http://www.v-leds.com/BlinkerWarning-Fix/Turn-Signal-Fix/6-OHM-50W-2-BULB-LED-p4783296.html

Really you can get them anywhere, as long as you get a 6Ohm 50w resistor. I'm actually going to try that UniWay place this afternoon to see if I can get them there.

This bulb replacement guide might help: http://www.sylvania.com/ConsumerProducts/AutomotiveLighting/LampReplacementGuide/AutoLRG-Results.htm

Actually, the ones you ordered were discontinued so they could release an updated version which you can find here:

Sheesh, they updated that version by $50/pc
[/quote]

The previous version sold for $50. This new one is selling for $80. That's only $30 more for the pair. A guy at work ordered the previous version for his Toyo Matrix but they ran out and gave him a free upgrade to the new updated version. They look pretty sweet and light up his tail light pretty nicely.

Gotta love how easily threads get :hijacked: eh?

Hey Kevy, do you have any experience popping off the rear dome cover? I need to get mine off but it just doesn't want to budge.
