I was wondering if anyone knows of a issue with the Ford Fusion 4 cylinder: When my Ford Fusion 4 cylinder is turn off for a while, I turn on my car, let it warm up for several minutes and I start too accelerate it lacks to takeoff for a few seconds, it feels like is lacking power on take off. But after a couple seconds it takes off ok and than i stop at the stop sign or red light and it seems to do it just a bit more, but than it gets better. But for me it seems a long time for the car to speed up and its annoying. any respond be appreciated. thanks.

Re: Acceleration issues?

The 4 cylinder is a little noisy, especially with the manual trans since it turns more rpm's than the auto. Acceleration issues? Considering that we are motivating 3100lbs of mass with only 160hp and similar torque, it accelerates better than expected I think. Stock was so-so...but with the manual trans and some good tuning, it feels pretty darned good to me ;)

Re: Acceleration issues?

I have really good acceleration, the engine is loose and I did some airway mods, and it takes off
pretty damn quick now. I used to have some issues but once I got some miles on it and it broke
in, it's fine, not too loud, but hey all and I say ALL fours have to create more R's to get up to
speed, unlike 6's & 8's, but at 160Hp it's no slouch, maybe not the fastest 4, but not bad, it sure
as hell beats the 150 - 154Hp V6's in the Tauruses. I can take off faster than them I know that
for sure. so for a 4, it's not bad.

and as far as more noisy, I redirected intake noise down towards the road with my mods, so it's nice
and quiet.

Re: Acceleration issues?

Thanks, everyone for your replies. But the one thing that bothers me is when i accelarate in the mornings it takes forever to take off. But I guess is just the 4 cylinder.

Re: Acceleration issues?

The 4cyl doesn't seem to be too cold happy. I notice marked improvement in performance and noise when it's warmed up, which fortunately doesn't seem to take very long at all. I have the auto trans. Yes, the 4 cyl is noisy...excessively so and I wish I could quiet it down a bit. I also think the ventilation fan is noisy, esp. with the defrost setting. A 5 speed vent fan would have been nice.
