Now that I'am a Fusion owner I follow the NASCAR. Since they are using the Fusion as their racecar... Next wk they will be In Vegas and at a Ford Dealer MR.Roush will be there.. Has any-1 else follow NASCAR since you got your Fusion.. Even though there is about a 600hp difference(v6).

Working for DuPont for the past 18 years, I've followed Nascar since the days of Bill Elliott running a Thunderbird that actually looked like the production Bird and Jeff Gordon was still craping in his pants as a 3 year old. However I'm very pleased with the performance of the Fusion as a Taurus replacement. I'm still waiting for the V-8 powered 2 door Fusion to show up on the dealers floor. Yea Right!

If you want "stock" cars, the only series left is Grand AM cup. I'm so sick of NASCAR and their shows, they aren't races anymore and most drivers are hired because they look good, not because they can drive. Don't get me wrong, the cometition is great, but it's created competition. Lets find a piece of paper so we throw a caution and can have green/white/checkers! NASCAR died with Earnhardt IMO.

I'd really like to see a pure stock series again like the Trans-Am of the 60's/70's. Give a forumula to manufacturers and require them to sell at least 10000 a year. I'd love to see NEW Boss 302s/Z28s/AAR's again!

I'm with you, the only thing that is stock in Nascar is the Hood skin, roof panel rear glass and deck lid. Between the luck dog rule, restrictor plates and paper cautions it's no longer fun to watch. Given a choice I'd watch F1, Offshore Powerboat Racing or European Sedan Racing series.

I think this was a restrictor plate motor. I am not sure if the ran that high. I do remember the unrestricted big motors were running about 230 down the straight-aways. ( Talladega Torinos , Daytona Dodge Chargers).

I know this is an old thread but I like Nascar. I have always been a fan for many years and have
a very nice colection of die cast cars and other various items that are worth a lot of money.
I do think there is a lot of issues like the ones you guys have addressed but Nascar has made
most all the rule changes they have so that everyone not just one guy has a chance to win a race
on any given Sunday. And as for the restrictor plate races go that is for the saftey of the drivers
and even the fans in the grand stands for that matter. But Nascar or any racing is not for everyone.
Some like drag racing some like motorcycle racing, to each his own.

Back in the old days, this racing scene was to provide the manufactures with information to build a better street machine and safety was part of that scheme.
They really need to get back to that concept. Let the track prove the street machines and if a manufacture can’t cut it, that’s just too bad. Social Engineering at the race track just doesn’t prove anything.
Let the best Man and Machine, walk away with the trophy. I guess I could quote the Romans, ( For those who are about to die, we salute you!) but I think I better not go that far.
    Just my opinion.
