Most of you have seen the keyless entry pad that comes on most Ford, Mercury, and all Lincoln products.

Let me check with Ford on that to be sure. I am almost positive it will. It was to replace the 3L2Z-14A626-AA that worked on older vehicles. The install directions mention Focus prior to 2007. And it specifically says "All 2005 to present vehicles". See attached PDF.

I absolutely loved the keyless entry pad on my 1994 Taurus. I was especially convenient when I could turn the ignition without the keys, so I never carried any keys with me and I could still lock the car lol. I'm definitely going to get one for my Fusion!

Yes this will work with the 2006 fusion :D

I have it on mine, it runs off of batteries and sticks to the door, acts like another key fob, just always attached to the car. I love it and would reccomend it to anyone. It doesnt look as good as the stock one on the 2008's but for the convinience it provides its well worth it.

One thing I would like to do is paint mine the color of the car, its a textured black plastic right now.

what is involved with installation?
Can I do it? or does Ford need to do it?

You can do it! You can do it all night long!!

just kidding.

It comes with directions, and as previoulsy posted, you can put it anywhere on the vehicle since there are no wires. Some people put it on the door, some put it up by the wipers. This will work on all Fusions. Ford told me it was only "officialy" released for 07-08, but will work on 06 models.

As an auto and home insurance agent i do not like these. Have seen many many claims were cars are broken into because of the key pads. Would never put one of these on my car nor buy one with a key pad.
[/quote]

Would that be any more or any less than a car without the pad? We know that Ford is the only company to have these. Below is the list as of 2005, and only 1 Ford is on there. So I think it's irrelavent that if the vehicle has a key pad or not. And, this has an option that if you enter the code wrong 7 times (35 censecutive buttons presses) it will not work for 1 minute and flash for that minute.

1. 1991 Honda Accord
2. 1995 Honda Civic
3. 1989 Toyota Camry
4. 1994 Dodge Caravan
5. 1994 Nissan Sentra
6. 1997 Ford F150 Series
7. 1990 Acura Integra
8. 1986 Toyota Pickup
9. 1993 Saturn SL
10. 2004 Dodge Ram Pickup

^ I agree. If someone wants to steal your car, they will -- keypad or no keypad. I have one on my Mariner. I rarely use it, but it comes in real handy while going to the pool, etc. I'd rather lock my keys somewhere hidden in the car vs. hide them in my shoe at the pool, beach, etc.

This would be great for the beach. I went to the beach for a quick dip and was worried the salt water would bother my key if I left it in my bathing suit trunks while swimming. Plus I was deathly afraid of losing it in the water. I ended up find a spot to hide it, but this keypad would be a great solution for that problem.

Well.... tonight I got around to programming / installing my keypad...
I wanted to paint my extra key pad, but couldn't find an economical source for RedFire (2G) paint in an aerosol spray can... so I stayed (for now) with the textured black cover.
Eventually, I get the other cover painted.

It went smoothly...
A few turns of the key and push this and push that - and all is good.
I can now unlock and lock my doors and open my trunk w/o the key. it would be nice if it would open/close the moon roof, but hey... can't have everything....

I'm going to say... the best $75.00 I've spent so far!

I don't like it as it sticks out too far. I wired up one from an older Taurus in my Ranger a while back. Had to dremel out a hole in the door and then wire it into the GSM.

That's what I don't want to have to do. I am just concerned that its not going to look right.

Swoop..... Where have you been?

I've been around. I got a new car to play with and I parked the Fusion for several months. Didn't drive it and stuff, and now I have it back out and I'm actually washing/clay barring/waxing today as I type this. Just letting the wax harden up on it.

So yeah, I'm back!

How exactly do these get programmed? I think I lost the little sticker wrapper that came on my set of keys. If I was to get one, I'd put it on the black door pillar...

They get programmed like another key-fob. If you have both of yours, you can program it.

If I got it, I'd try to hide it someplace where it couldn't be seen. I've always wanted one someplace where I could reach under or whatever and pop in the code and have it unlock.
