you have to have 2 working keys to do this. The process is as follows:

insert one good key, turn ignition to on (don't start car)
turn off take out key
insert other good key, turn ignition to on (don't start car)
turn off take out key
put in new key, turn ignition to on - then start car.

However, i'm pretty sure this doesn't program the fob part of the key to open the doors, and i think the dealer needs to do that, but i could be wrong.

I hope it does both. But i got the uncut key with fob (looks just like the 2 i got when i purchased the car) off e-bay for $36 so if i do have to have the dealer program something i will still be saving money over just buying it.
