:x I was at an outdoor event with a group of soccer parents, a Jamboree as its called. I drove the Fusion to event and happend to get a parking spot close to the action. I guess a female parent saw us pull up in the Fusion. Anyhoo.. The conversation went along this line.

Her: I see you have a new car, a Fusion?
Me: Not really new anymore, it has about 19,000 miles on it.
Her: you like it?
Me: Yes, its been a great car.
Her: Why didn't you buy an Accord or Camry, they are the best family cars.
Me: (With a grin) oh really? and how is that?
Her: Everyone buys Accords or Camrys.
Me: Well, I paid about $2,500 less than a like equipped Accord and about $3,000 less for a like equipped Camry.
Her: Well, thats nice. I hope your reliability is as good as an Accord/Camry
Me: Well, I have heard this story over and over again. I owned a Ford Ranger that went over 100,000 no problems, an Escape that went over 75,000 no issues, wife owns a Tribute with over 40,000 no issues, I'm at 19,000 on my Fusion am I'm sure the Fusion will be fine.
This basically ended the conversation. The media has done a hell of a job on mind screwing the public!

The media has everyone brainwashed. She sounded just like a guy I work with. He is all about the Camry. I quit trying to talk sense into him.

I don't blame it all on the media. Can you really blame people for being skeptical of the Big 3 after the crap they put out from the 80's through the early 2000's?

My dad had an 81 Monte Carlo for 275K miles and he got rid of that for a 95 T-Bird which he logged 175K on before he got rid of it in 2005. I certainly don't think those were crap. I bought a 93 Escort new and had it for six years with ZERO problems before I sold it.

Perception and spin can be an evil thing.

I have always owned fords, and probably always will. Never had any major issues with any of them.

Current Vehicles:
2006 Fusion 6,000, no problems
2001 Mercury Cougar 85,000 miles, no problems
1992 T-Bird Just turned 118,000, no problems

I have owned in the past:
2003 Explorer Sport Trac only had 17,000 miles, but no problems
1998 Contour 79,000 miles, and no problems
1988 Escort GT 120,000 miles, no problems
1987 Mustang 84,000, no problems

How the hell can someone say that. Sure Toyota and Honda have had a lot of reliable cars.

However, Ford has the most amount of trucks with high mileage on them on the road then any other auto manufacterer.

I can't remember the statistic that qualified it as high mileage, either 100,000 or 150,000.

I have owned many styles of cars, minivans, trucks and such. My fusion is the best car i have owned no issues at all. But ford has had it's issues in the past. The wife had a Winstar with the 3.8 V6 in it. And us as well as many many other had head gaskets go and took the engine with it. For the past 5 years i have only owned Mopar. My prev car was a Neon and love it. Besides the mustangs and the fusion it was the best car i had owned. Drove great, handled nice ( won 3 regional SCCA autocross championships with it) and had good power for the sytle of car it was. The wife has an 07 Dakota which replaced her chrys town and county. Both great cars (personally do not like minivans but it did the job of family hauler). I have never owned a chevy and never will do not like them i think they have the ugliest cars out on the market right now. i have also owned 2 toyota MR2's. WOW what a fun car that is. engine and drive train were great but the damn thing rusted out so bad that had to send it to the junk yard because the car was just falling apart. That is part of the reason i will not get another import. they seem to run forever but all of the older ones that you see out there are rusted out so bad who cares how they run. After all of the rambling i will have to say all of the auto companies have there good and bad cars but i would still have to say from my point of view ford and dodge are the best. if you take care of them they will last as long as you need them to.

Hmm, yeah, dodge. LOL

Idk, all I have ever seen from a dodge is trouble. Though I guess they are getting better.

I've been eyeing up that 2008 Chevy Malibu though.

2001 Ford Ranger-76,000 Miles-Perfect truck!
2006 Ford F-150-Lease 36,000 Miles, Perfect!

Its amazing how alot of people like to bash the Fusion. I think alot of them are actually closet Fusion lovers. I have had many brands of cars and I have only had one car since 76 that has given me grief....unfortunately it was a 90 Mazda Protege LX. But my sister bought one also and hers has been an excellent car. She still has it.

Go to upcoming vehicles, then click 2008 Malibu. I know the 07 Malibu is hidious but the new one is bigger and more powerful.
Plus it comes with a 5 year 100,000 mile warranty!

Then again, the closest Mazda dealership is offering a 8 year 100,000 mile warranty if any new mazda is bought from them and it comes with free oil changes and check-ups until the warranty runs out!

Ryman I work at the GM Milford proving Grounds and let me just say, they are not that great. Right now GM is shitting there pants because they said the car had a five star front crash rating, and it only recieved a 4 star when it was put out on the market. So GM has like 2 weeks to somehow have it score 5 stars.

Ouch, 08 Fusion here I come lol. Not to sure about the sport appearance package anymore though.

I'm just thinking an 08 V6 SEL FWD in alloy or silver. Then we are going to have two Fusions in our driveway, a Ford 500 (probably going to be changed to a Cadillac CTS)., and a Ford F-250.

Nothing but Fords.

So everyone here has had great experiences with Ford and keeps buying them. But all the people who have bad experiences with Fords have bought something else and aren't here to "average" out the comments.

Just pointing out the bias in this thread. If only those who had bad experiences would come back, I think they'd find it a different story now.
