This isn't really Fusion related, but somebody must know.....Just saw the new James Bond flick -Loved it- but what the hell was that light blue rental Ford Bond drove in Nassau? It looked Fusion size-ish. Is it the new Euro Focus? Lots of FOMOCO product placement.

SWEEET.. I knew someone would know, thanks. I too had a Contour (96 Sport I4 m5) and missed it so much when I got my 99Grand Prix, and that's why I got the Fusion (I4 m5!).
"IF" they were to bring this here, where would it slot in. It looks like it could kill our beloved Fusion

The Mondeo was a Contour/ Mazda 626 (shared platform/drivetrain)
The Fusion is a Mazda 6
Therefore, is this Mondeo, to replace the Fusion?
Something to think about.

FWIW, the MK2 Mondeo was not based off the 626.

Mazda has never shared a platform with Ford of Europe's Mondeo. The orginal Mazda 626 was an evolution of previous Mazda platform, which Ford has used and modified for the North American market.

The new Mondeo platform is the Volvo modified version (stretched) C1 platform called C1+ or officially EUCD, which the new Volvo S80,Ford of Europe's MPV Galaxy, and S-Max is built on, and soon to come Volvo V70 and S60, and also Landrovers Freelander/ LR2.

Here is a good bit of info on mazda's G series platforms http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mazda_G_platform

New Mondeo Wagon is quite the looker as well http://www.autokampioen.nl/publishe...gen/toekomst/0512fordmotu-223992_enlarged.jpg

Ford NA big wigs would never allow such well engineered, well built, good looking Fords to grace our shores.

Just now came across your post (newbie to the forum). What a sweet-looking car that Mondeo wagon is. That line would really boost FoMoCo sales if available in the U.S. Too bad it's not.

Chris06Fusion,
That is one bad ass-looking piece of machinery and thanks for the link, too.
