Has anyone found a good way to integrate an iPod with the Fusion? I've sent PIE an email about their PC-POD interface. They don't currently list a model for the Fusion. PAC also has one, but they don't list one for the Fusion yet either. I already have all my music on my iPod, I don't want to have to burn a bunch of MP3 CDs.

I would much rather have their new iPod interface (PC-POD)
http://www.pie.net/applepie.cfm

With the FRD04-AUX you would still have to use the iPod to changes tracks. The new interface would allow you to use the steering wheel controls. You can have up to 6 playlists that will act like 6 CDs with up to 9999 songs per list. You could keep the iPod in the golve box or console.

I've sent them an email, but have not heard anything back from them.

On that web page it used to list the fusion, but it does list the milan. So it should work right? I'm 99.9% sure the radios are the same.

One would think, but the PIE guys say it doesn't work ..

I'ld go ask them about it here:

I emailed Tassillo again today. His email to me was rather vague and I was getting mixed signals from their website. It doesn't look like they've ever had an interface that's worked with any Ford 6-Disc changer. Below I pasted what I initially wrote him, and his response...

From Me with subject line -iPod2car and the Ford Fusion SEL V6 with Audiophile system- : "Are you guys working on, or have you already come up with, an iPod2car interface that is compatible with the Audiophile system in the Ford Fusion? I’m really anxious to get my hands on one.. There is a lot of demand for such a product, at least in the fusion clubs I’m a member of ."

From Tassillo: "The piece that is designed for all the new fords should be available within 30 to 45 days."

What do yall think?

I wrote him back today: "I was pumped to hear that all of the new fords would have an iPod interface, but I must admit to my skepticism. I don’t think I’ve seen any of your products have compatibility with the 6 disc Ford changers in the past. I gave word to the Fusion club that you guys were going to have an interface for the SEL sometime within the next 20 days, but if something changes, please let me know. Thanks!"

He responded: "We are trying to tell everyone mid next month. The reason it is not compatible with the 6 disc in dash units is that it can either come across as SAT or CD-C. so not only does it help you it helps us."

Again, he's crossing his word up a bit so I can't tell if the "it" he's referring to describes the new part too...

I wrote one more reply: "In your below comments, I’m reading the “it” as a reference to the old version of the ipod2car interface, right? The new one will not require the SAT or CD-C buttons? I’m guessing it will use the AUX, or something like that? Sorry to keep bugging you, but enquiring minds want to know ;) and I don’t want to get excited unless I know what you are saying for sure."

I'm starting to worry about this guy.... His response didn't make much sense, nor did it answer my question: "I'm just saying that’s how the head unit reads it. you will only need the AUX button for this piece to work."

I just recieved an e-mail from Tony Tassillo:

It has been released you may want to contact a local dealer and have them order part numbers PXDP2 and PXH2FD1. This is good for both the Fusion and Explorer.

I pick up my Sirius special edition Ford Fusion tomorrow. :klavergreg:

This is good news.  Do we know exdactly which part this is?   I'm not seeing anything listed for the Fusion or the Explorer on their website.

They probably haven't updated their site or PDF files yet. It looks like Tony has provided the necessary part numbers, but doesn't the fusion have several different stereo options? I would be suprised if these two parts work for all variations.

Well I decided after having the car for a week that the factory stereo just plain blows...for the cost of this integration solution (About $200 USD), I decided to just bite the bullet and buy a new head unit with a built in aux-in for the iPod that will sound better all around.  Picked up a Pioneer DEH-M480MP deck and PESWISP steering wheel control module on eBay for not much more money that what this unit would cost anyway.  Cost of bracket and install I will have to bear, but will be worth it IMHO.  The deck is black plastic /w green lighting to match the interior of the Fusion. :)  Will gain a nice 'slot' in the dash to put stuff like CDs since the factory deck is a big square 'hole'.

btw. the part numbers Tony gave me were for the single disc SE factory stereo, but I believe that the 6-disc type uses the same interface, and same part numbers.  Also, the audiophile is really the same 6-disc deck with an additional amp and 6x9 speakers in the back if I am not mistaken.  I have the empty 6x9 holes in the back of my SE and have a feeling that an amp and new 6x9 speakers will be using one of the Pioneer's 4V pre-outs sometime in the near future. ;)

... and I've been sleeping peacfully all these weeks thinking I had a way to hook up an iPod! :(

I just read this post and clicked on that link and to my surprise there IS and iPod adapter for the fusion-- (see drop-down menu-- 2006 Fusion is listed) Wow!  This  part may be exactly what we have been waiting for. My girlfriend's uses an FM modulator and has to fiddle with that iPod while driving --- with this part you don't have to because (according to the manual), you can control you iPod from the stereo including 10 character text display (artist name, song, name etc). Her birthday is July 19 and i'm going to get one of these for her.
Hopefully someone on here will purchase before then and offer some feedback -- see it here

Yup. That's the Part Number Tony gave for the Fusion unit....a day late and a buck too much for me I'm afraid, but good news still...about time we had an option for the factory unit.

I agree, the price is on the high end, but if this thing does what it says it would do then its worth it -- It may be a small price to pay for safety. She has had close calls dealing with that clickwheel and ipod display.... i think this solution is much safer because she already has a feel for where the radio buttons are and will be able to browse without having to look at the radio. I have until early July and will check the forum to see if any fellow member installs one and offers feedback.
