I tried to find that thread. It is called "Intake Silencer Delete". It is the snorkal like tube on the side of the air filter box extending toward the fender. All you need is a screwdriver to pry up the clamp that is holding it. When you look at it, you will see what I am talking about.

I did. I just dont want mice making a home in there. I found a spray paint can cap that fits perfectly on it.

How do I delete the intake silencer??? Does anybody have pics of what that is?
The How-To thread is a sticky over in the I4 engine section with pictures of which piece and how to remove it... http://www.fordfusionclub.com/index.php?topic=69403.0  From the pictures, the real silencer is on the bottom of the airbox and and draws in cooler air from the fenderwell. 8)

If you remove the elbow-pipe on the side of the 'accordian' tube, that hole definately needs to be covered and sealed! (That's not the silencer though...)

Does removing the intake silencer make any kind of difference performance wise?
Doesn't affect performance at all. It only give a more mellow sound.
