I am on a budget and was wondering what door speakers everyone would recommend?

I don't have a lot money for big ticket stuff, so that is why I am looking at speakers.

Should I just leave the system as is till I get some big money banked, or will just changing the 4 doors and leaving the tweeters be a noticable difference?

My first recommendation is always to add an amp and sub. Some people think subs are only for the hip hop crowd, but all music will benefit from a sub. After the amp/sub, I changed my door speakers to Kenwood 5x7's from Crutchfield ($60). I left the tweeters in but ended up removing them after a couple of weeks- way to "bright" sounding. I also added the same Kenwoods to the rear doors. I later added an amp to power my front speakers. Overall it sounds lightyears better than stock, and I have about $750 invested. If I'd had a little more budget, I would have done component speakers in front.

Personally, I just added a sub and an amp, and that's it. I think the door speaker's and tweeters are GREAT!

Yet that is just me.

Ok, so what is a decently priced sub and amp?

Um..well it depends on what music you listen to. If you listen to soft rock, country, stuff like that. Probably a single enclosed 10 inch sub pushing 300 watts should be more then enough.

However if you listen to rap, I would suggest two 12's in a ported enclosure, each sub pushing 500 max, 300 rms.
But that setup right their is for me, I have more then enough power, I actually have it turned down to about halfway.

Tips: Never get shitty subs. Go for the best like: Cadence, Kohl, Alpine (Iffy), or Kenwood. Try to stay away from non-name brand subs. And definetly stay away from Sony. As for an amplifier, this is where people sometimes make their mistakes. They overpay for amps, sure you can go get a name brand high priced amplifier, but the question is: Are you buying the name? Or the product? Some good amp companies are: Kenwood, and Alpine, they are kind of high priced, and another good company that not to many people know about are Lanzar. They are based out of NY, I'd say a good percentage of people that you see riding around in NY city that have systems have Lanzar's.

I didn't even know Lanzar existed until a colleague of mine came down from NY and he gave me the hook-up.

In all for everything, subs, amp, installation, I paid $400.

So yeah, go for great quality subs, and don't be fooled with name-brand amps, save some money.

I don't totally disagree with Ryman, but I listen to classic rock and hip hop and my 12" JL Audio in a sealed enclosure is more than enough (plus it takes up less room than a ported enclosure). I have mine turned up just past 1/2 way, and I can shake the windows and doors. I have an MTX amp pushing around 300W continuous. Probably spent about $500+/- with professional installation. But Ryman is totally correct- don't buy junk at the local warehouse store- you will regret it.

If you wanted to replace the speakers; I highly reccomend polk db570 speakers. I had them before and they are a direct fit and sound great. highs way cleaner than stock; also if you decide to amplifiy them thay hand 60W rms. Go listen for them at CC. sometimes they have buy 1 get 2nd 50% off. Crutchfield also carries them with great specials.

A sub will always improve the quality of sound no mater what music you listen to. I think a single 10 or 12 inch off 300W RMS is more than enough for daily listening. If you want a really good sub/ amp combo then I highly reccomend Elemental designs Kv series subs and nine.2 amp.

typically has some very good deals. Some subs are more for the rap enthusiast, but others will produce no matter what the genre. I have two infinity Kappa 10.1 subs powered by a Infinity 611A amp and MB Quart component speakers powered by an Infinity 7521A two channel amp. I bought everything through crutchfield for about $700. Got my multi amp wiring kit through circuit city for another $200 and it came with a capacitor, which will prevent battery drainage. You also have the option of finding a higher voltage amplifier, but the capacitor will do the job. Crutchfield has some very good customer reviews on their products and some of the best customer service and/or technical support. Have fun.
