:D I ordered my Fusion the first week of March. My dealer told me it would take 6 to 8 weeks for delievery. I am fine with that. My only question is how long does it take Ford (or other manufacturers, for that matter) to determine estimated build date or delievery? I just assumed that I would know within a week or two when my car would be built. :?

Btw. I ordered Fusion SE I4, 5spd manual with sport package. Redfire metallic, Camel leather interior.

You can try this link. The guru's name who provides all the information you are looking for is Kzinti. He mainly searches for info on Ford Mustangs but if you ask nicely he will help you, he did for my Fusion, just go to this link, find the last page and add a post with your V.I.N if you have it yet. Otherwise you will need an order # (dlr can probably give it to you) and a dealer code (dealer again)

Good Luck

I bought the car on January 7th, so I'm guessing the order went in the following monday. They weren't able to get any info on the car until the end of Feb, at that point they said the car will be built the week of March 17.

I spoke to the salesman again this week and the car should be in by Monday. I took almost 2 months before I got any word from the factory about the status of the car.

Hopefully it's there on Monday so I can finally drive one again!! :D

 You guys are killing me!!!!! Green_fusion.........Five months!!! Maybe it took so long because of the color, I didn't see green listed as a choice. Fusion_one.......It's been almost three months for you. I know that there are certain times of the year that individual plants are shut down for maintainance and/or retooling, but I would think that the Fusion plant would be running non-stop since it just came out last fall.
I did read on one of the forums that there was a delay for cars with sunroofs (a supplier problem). Was your car a sunroof car Fusion_one? Maybe it took this long because of the holidays.........New Years, MLK, Presidents, etc. :D Anywho, I am with you, and hope your car shows up Monday., Let me know if it was worth the wait!

boblamp, they told me 8-10 weeks & i'm still waiting. The contract stated they have 90 days to deliver the car or they have to nitify me in writing and I have to agree to the new terms or the original agreement is viod. the can't really make me wait too much longer, hopegully yours doesn't take that long.

The card is ordered is a SEL, 4 cyl. auto (wife choice), Black on Black, w/leather interior. & extended warranty, I didn't opt for the sunroof, or any other options.

From what I've read the cars are built in Mexico, and I had the order put in after new years so I have no idea what the holdup is, I guessing just lots of volume.

Hopefully your time waiting will be short and not try your patience as it did mine, I'll post some pics once i get it.

Don't worry, yours won't take 5 months like mine. Mine is only taking that long because it was ordered through military car sales for overseas members. My car was built on Jan 30/31, left the factory on Feb. 2nd, and left baltimore on a boat on Feb 24th. It has been here in England for maybe a week or two and is still in customs. I should have it by next week. As for hearing about build dates, I placed my order in the beginning of November, on January 1st I recieved notice that my build date was Jan. 30th. So basically it took me 2 months to get notification of a build date.

My experience with FoMoCo as far as factory ordered vehicles, has been poor, when compared to my experience with European ordered cars.
For example I have ordered 3 Volvo's, and each time the wait time was 6 weeks, and cars all were delivered exactly as I had spec'd.

My one experience so far with Ford North America, I ordered a ZX5 Focus ( I am in Canada),the  end of October 2004, the car was delivered to the dealership the last
day of February, 2005.  We had ordered cloth seats, as both myself and wife do not like leather,5 speed manual, and side air bags  but of course the car had leather. I know most people would be happy with the free leather, but when you specifically factory order to get what you want, it is disappointing to say the least.

During the waiting period I also had to fend of the dealerships attempts at unloading ZX5's on his lot, plus the frustration of no idea when and what was the status of said car. from Ford head office or the dealership.

My assumption is that Ford North America does not promote or prioritize  factory orderd vehicles. They (Ford) certainly did not show any concern in my case.

My brother just went through the same ordeal with his factory ordered F250, the truck arrived, but not the right paint colour/color.

I finally got my Fusion, :klavergreg: I placed my order the first week of March, salesman said it would take 6-8 weeks for delivery. car came in last week of May. That makes about 12 weeks for delivery. Car arrived exactly as I had ordered :D I only have 2 complaints..................one, I picked up the car Monday after work, and hit a deer Friday night, just a tiny ding in the front fender but still :x it took less than a week to ding the car!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Second, and this may be my imagination, the shifter on my car does not feel as smooth as the car I test drove.

At this point I have racked up about 1800 miles and am very pleased with the car.
