What is it with the decks in fords getting so hot? I've noticed this in my parents lincoln and in my fusion (mostly on extended trips) I'm worried the heat could effect the life of the system that and it just bugs me when I touch it and its hot. After looking into it I hear alot of fords (trucks even!) have some seriously bad electrical.

I don't think that there is anything to worry about. I have never heard of any problems with the deck being over heated.

Well, I don't know I'll let you know. This is the first Ford I have owned where I have kept the deck in it before the odometer hit 10 miles, so I can't compare this to my F150, Taurus SHO, Mustang, or other F150 ever had issues of overheating. I can say that I haven't really noticed too much of a problem. I drove from Ft. Worth to San Antonio (four hours) - had CD's playing constantly. I remember ejecting one CD and I don't remember it being hotter than I would have expected it to be.
