I have a 2006 Fusion S with the standard steel wheel/ hubcap setup. I have been noticing some noise lately that sounded like it was coming from the hubcaps-especially at low speed. I stopped once to reseat (bang on) the hubcaps and the noise went away, however the noise returned the next day. Has anyone experienced this problem?

Plastic hub caps, and even center caps on some wheels will make a bit of noise from time to time. Due to the stress load put on the wheel itself while turning, rolling ect. Its normal. Nothing to much you can really do to spot it. Good excuse to buy wheels tho!!

Thanks for the advise. I'll try the tape for now. Wheels will come later after my tires wear out.

Maybe a small rock is dancing around in the hubcap. Just a hypo. I hated my hub caps. I couldn't wait to get rid of them.
