Last night about 4:30 pm. The Fusion bit the big one. My wife swerver out of the way of a deer. She steered to the left, lost control, slid to the right, and then hit the dirt on the side of the road and hit a telephone pole. She's fine, no injuries at all. But as for the car well that's another story............

We're not sure if the frame is bent or not. So we don't know if it's repairable. The dealership we bought id from has another black fusion just like the one we go (had), so If need be, we'll just end up with another fusion.

More to come.

Wow man, that really stinks big time. Good to know everyone is ok, even the deer lol, that son of a biznitch deer.

NOTE: To all drivers. Insurance covers you if you hit a deer! They do not cover you if you swerve and hit any other object.

Man that really sucks- but I'm glad to hear your wife is OK. I saw a 20/20 or Dateline NBC episode a few years ago about all the accidents caused by deer and other wildlife. After reviewing thousands of accidents, etc, the conclusion of the report was to KILL the deer and come to a controlled stop afterwards. Swerving to avoid the deer usually resulted in hitting another car or hitting something worse than the deer (like a telephone pole). I know our natural reaction is to try to avoid it, but look at it this way- someone is going to get hurt- better the deer than you.

That's why I don't swerve for animals so matter how big they are.

I don't care what the insurance company says, DO NOT LET THEM FIX THAT CAR!!!!

I really don't think the insurance adjuster is going to say it's fixable. It's totaled.

We already have a fully loaded black SEL on hold at the dealership where we bought this one at.

I'll have better pictures in a few......

Here's a couple others I got later on today with a little more light....

Nice huh?

Man,they better total this car. If they do try and fix it, we've already said we're getting rid of it.

Our insurance company is covering everything. Even the telephone pole. They even pay for the rental car.

Wow, must have a nice insurance company. I have mine from the state, they took good care of me.

But anyways, the deer problem has gotten so bad in southern new jersey, they have let a few select hunters to go out and have a kill fest.

Sounds pretty cool, but now the bad news. They want to have the visually impaired people hunt to! Come on, when your blind, there are just some
things you cant do, drive, and handle a loaded weapon!

I don't care what insurance you have......if you hit ANYTHING you are covered by COLLISION. That is the most expensive coverage on your policy. I have never heard of an insurance adjuster say, "Oh well if you swerved and hit something other than the deer we can't help you". Thats ABSURD!!

Ok tnoah. Go put your dog out in the road, then do 60 and swerve to miss it and hit a pole. You let me know what your insurance company says.

Down boy. I think what he means is that you get an at fault for hitting a telephone pole. My brother hit 2 deer and none of it went on insurance.

Not only was the pole hit, the car drove right through the pole. If she would have hit the pole in the middle of the car, she probably wouldn't be here today. Or if the pole wasn't there, she would have drove off the road down a big cliff into a lake.

I don't really give a rats ass about the car to be honest, I'm just gald she's still here.
