***MODS: PLEASE DO NOT DELETE UNLESS YOU THINK THIS IS UN-IMPORTANT TO THE BUY/SELL FORUM! ****
So Tom Chess (tking13) decided to give me a $1,000 check on March 19th, 2006 at 2pm  for the amount he owes after all the drama of giving him a personal loan of $2,500 back in December so he could put a down payment on a Subaru WRX STI in exchange for all of his aftermarket goods for a cheap price and to be paid the entire amount loaned plus interest by February 2006.

I paid $1,500 which included: Omp Strut Bar, Draxas Race Pipe, Accolade Body Kit, 17 inch 5zigen rims & Nitto tires, 18 inch Enkei Rims and Falken Tires, Angel Eyes, Spare 18 Inch Toyo Tire, two Goodyear RSA's used.

Yes, his check was good that he gave me. This was his first step in paying me back. Since he's been having some "financial troubles" I agreed to help him out further and we both agreed on a payment plan of $500 a month for the balance ($1,500) to be paid off by June.

Tom said I would get my 1st installment on April 20th. He didn't have it. I gave him until yesterday (20 days later) to see if he could get his act together. I called he hung up and said he would call me and not to call him.

What I need from the Mazda3 Community:
If you ever dealt Tom Chess and your dealings with him went South, you need to let me know as I am filing the paperwork against him in VA Small Claims Court tommorow and can use any type of Charecter Statements about Tom Chess to strengthen my case against him. The court date will be some time in June. He's probably not on this forum anymore any has switched over to the Subaru forum but I thought everyone should know how decietful this man is. A picture of him if you ever see him in person:

Re: FS: Warning- Tom Chess the Scammer (continued...)

Well, I gave him a loan to help him out since he blew his tranny on his turbo'ed Mazda 3 and needed a reliable car to get to work. He needed money to buy a new tranny to trade in his F'ed up car and then needed money to put a down payment on a Subaru WRX STI which is way more than a Mazda 3! Tom seemed really bent out of shape in December when all this happened to him. "I really owe you huge man, I don't think you understand how important this is to me. Yes, you'll recieve the amount you loaned me when I file my tax return by Mid Feb 06".

For giving him a $2,500 loan, he parted out his Mazda 3 and gave me all of the following for $1,500:
-Angel Eyes
-Enkei 18 inch rims with Falken Tires
-OMP Strut Bar
-Draxas Race Pipe
-5zgen 17 inch rims with Nitto Tires
-Full Accolade Body Kit
-Carbon Fiber Hood
-Spare Brand New Toyo All Season 18 inch Tire
-2 Goodyear RSA 17 inch tires (donuts)

Now would you have done it if you were getting such a good deal on the above parts and he said he'd pay you all of it back by Mid Feb 2006?

Re: FS: Warning- Tom Chess the Scammer (continued...)

Unfortunately Brian805 did. I tried to contact him about it but he was so pissed about the whole ordeal and just wanted to put it aside. I joked around about taking Tom to appear on Judge Judy but he didn't take my comments nicely from his experiences with Tom. I told him I'd ship him the rims and tires that I bought off Tom that should have been his if he helps me build a case against Tom and the court rules in my favor but he refused.

BTW: The 5zigen rims and tires were sold to SaluteToMe a.k.a. Brandon from Edison, NJ tonight for $650. Very cool dude and nice black hatch with a borla exhaust, CAI, and tweaks to the throttle body. Sorry Brian805 :(

But what a shady charecter Tom is. I mean, com'on look at that picture and tell me you don't see guilt written all over his face. I took that picture of him when I bartered an XBox360 when it first came out for the accolade body kit. The XBox360 cost me around $600 with the warranty I bought from Best Buy and the games and thought it was a good deal. Still wish I didn't barter it. I literally camped out and pitched a tent in front of the Best Buy for 18 hrs in 40 degree weather in the rain to be the #5 spot in line to buy one when it came out in November.

An unfortunate example.

But hey, he's getting what he deserves. Glad to hear all the legal proceedings went through, and you've got a court date in the near future. Keep us updated.

Lesson Learned. I dont know why people loan money to other people, thats why we have a fucking banks, I think this loaning cash idea is stupid and people who do it and dont get their money back realize it at the end. Good luck in court of law, I hope he will get what he deserves. Also i dont get this dude why buy STI if hes broke? Its a joke.

Re: FS: Warning- Tom Chess the Scammer (continued...)

I've known him for about 1/2 a year at the time of the loan. I bought a set of 18 inch motegi rims with toyo tires from him back then. Knew his significant other and his child, which he still tells me to not tell her about what is going with the loan which I've gotta laugh because the court papers are coming to his house. She got pissed when she found a message regarding a loan on the answering machine.

that dude looks like ShadesMcgee! What gets me is that he

needed a reliable car and then he goes for an STi, what about

a Saturn or Kia? Did he really need 300Hp just to get from point A to point B?

He does work at a Subaru/Dodge/Kia dealership so he got his car at or a little below invoice. Still, it's an expensive car and he only drives it a few miles to work.

Re: FS: Warning- Tom Chess the Scammer (continued...)

I hope you get whatever you ask for.
The reason I am unable to help is because I am primary caretaker for my elderly father. He requires someone to be here 24 hrs a day. That person has to give medications as well as many other tasks, many of which I don't trust anyone else to do. For me to leave just to see juan in L.A for 2 days was a major ordeal. Traveling to the otherside of the country to appear in a small claims court would would cause undo stress on family which I am sorry but not worth it.

Best of luck.

Brian.

Re: FS: Warning- Tom Chess the Scammer (continued...)

Thanks for your comments Brian. Is unfortunate that good people like us get burnt by people like Tom. I'm sorry about your father. I didn't know about the condition he was in at the time. At least you now got to see how Tom looks like. As many people have commented, he looks like a very decietful person. I'll be posting the outcome of the trial. I'm glad that the legal process has started. It's caused so much headache and stress for me and I know what you were going through.

Off to a family renunion...happy mother's day everyone.  :klavergreg:
