It will let you back-up your games that you own onto the harddrive and play them off the harddrive without have the disk in the drive.
It will let you play DVD movies with out having the playback kit required.

dude $350 is a STEAL on this. I have a 300 GB with Nintendo, SNES, N64, Genesis emulators plus the XBOX games totaling 1000+ games
I wouldn't sell mine for under $700.....

Not worth the money at all, the chip is about 50, an xbox and hard drive dont run 300, or even close if you know where to look and in the case of modding the older the xbox the better(read buy used). Also, the install is easy, but I know of at least 3 peopple who do it for $30, and theyll even do some modifications to your lighting etc if you feel so inclined (this includes free selection out of their extensive game libraries, emus, etc).
Though I do agree that once you have a modified xbox you cant let it go cheap because half of your life can be run through it, truly the most useful gadget I have. video games for free is quite the bonus, but does lead to a little more gaming. Now that 360 mods are out, Im saving the pennies.

I didn't buy a modchip on mine. I TSOP flashed it. I can agree though, so very useful.

Look,
A used xbox wil cost you - 145.00 after tax if you go to a gamestop
A chip installed was             50.00
A 250 gig harddrive cost     155.00 after tax at bestbuy
                                        350.00                                   
                                     

According to you its not worth the money but I disagree. If you rent a game from blockbuster and downloaded to the harddrive you saved yourself 40+ dollars a game. imagine if you rent 100 games at 8 dollars a each that would be 800.00 or if you have a monthly subscription to rent games it would be cheaper.
Now if I where to purchase 100 at $40.00 a pop that would be 4000.00.
You saved $3200.00 but I guess saving that much money on games is not worth the money.
