I bet you could put sugar on it take the engraving off, its not engraved like the old ipods where they etched its into the ipod, its almost as if it were stenciled on or something...

Personally with all my old ipods that were used and had stuff engraved on it, it made for a conversation piece. it was alway random stuff like, " I love you charles" when my name is really nick. just random stuff

I believe it is os x journaled right now. I can format it to fat, or make it blank.
