i hope the sway bar bushings on these cars are better than the ones they put on the contours/mystiques. those were junk and every car had clunks in the front and rear. anyone know more about these? my frontend isn't toyotaesque quiet, compared to the camry i drove before buying the fusion. maybe i'm just hearing things or something, but my fusion sure isn't quiet riding over bumps.

I have one out of my left front. The swaybar was disconnected and it still did it. Ford came out with a revised mount for the coilover so maybe that could be the problem. Of course the damn dealership won't fix it because my car is lowered....but this same dealership caters to ******** with lifted trucks and snow plows. Because that doesn't hurt your suspension.......

there is a newer TBS from Ford regarding this clunk, maybe... It's TSB # 06-24-7, front usupension noise/ creak over bumps. Has to do with subframe welds and rust. Dealer is supposed to use chassis ears and drive listening to car, how will they hear over ALL the other annoying noises this car makes!?!?!!?

But that's not the whole story... they also said that the car wasn't elegible for the PCM update because the code scanner didn't show any problems with the car!!! I told them that I was not happy with their excuses and that I was going to bring back the car to have both things fixed... The PCM won't need a reflash because I bought an X2 Tuner from Bob, but I still want that sound gone. What I'll do is get my salesman involved...

Got the same clunk. I have about 5 or 6 speed bumps that I have to go over to get in my development and It gets annoying. I notice it more when its cold outside. Definetely needs to be looked at.

So, I took the car yesterday to have the TSB's for the front end clunk and door rattle done. Today I was called to pick up the car. They had to order the parts for both TSB's. I'll have to take the car to the dealership again as soon as they get the parts.

Defacto,

I haven't noticed any front end clunks or door rattles yet on our 2007 SEL AWD -- already dubbed "The Guzzler" because of our 13 mpg in-town mileage -- but it was bought Dec. 4 and only has 713 miles on it.

Am curious about what year, model and drive train you have and whether the TSB applies to ours. What sort of parts did they have to order?

Boz,

I have a 2006 V6 SEL FWD Fusion. I honestly don't know which parts they had to order. I was able to hear the front end clunk the second day I had the car. The door rattle/speaker buzz is only present in rough roads.

I'm really sorry about your gas problem. I do live in a city full of traffic jams, so my city mpg is not the best (I get between 13-15). Highway mpg is great though (I get around 27-29). I do drive with the A/C on all the time (Puerto Rico's average temperature is 87* through out the year, the city I live in is 89*)

Defacto,

Your in-city mileage is pretty crummy also. At least you are honest about it. To be sure having the A/C on all the time has to be a factor in your case but not in ours. We have only had the SEL AWD since Dec. 4 but the temps for the month of December have generally been in the 50s.

Since yours is an '06, there is no break-in factor involved in the 13-15 figure (which is still better than our 13 mpg). Did you ever inquire about having a Powertrain Computer Module re-flash done? Has it ever been computer tuned since you bought it? I would think that the EPA in-city figure for an SEL FWD should be around 20 or 21.

Boz,

My car only has approximately 1650 miles (bought the car in November 28). The problem with my poor gas milage could be the following: I'm currently doing my OB/GYN rotation in a hospital which is 3.5 miles away from my house. If I leave my house before 6:30 am it takes me around 10 mins to get to the hospital. If I leave after 6:45 it takes me 50-60 mins (no kidding). I usually leave my house by 7:30 am (my day starts at 9:00 am)... So, being stuck in a bumper to bumper traffic jam for 50-60 mins is not helping my mpg. Not saying is the only reason, but a big part...

I just flashed the PCM with a Jusnes X2 tuner... I'll let you know how it works out.

Defacto,

Be sure and update forum readers on the re-flash thing. That is one modification that I am giving some serious thought to. It might pay for itself over the long haul.
