I bought new tires at Sams Club, they add a note on my report " Need new lugnuts all 20" I asked them for a recommendation they said looking for Steel type, so I tried on Amazon, but I see too many options, folks could you please give some recommendations?

Good call, I assumed they are the chrome capped ones, but an SE has the hub cap on the steel wheel, so maybe not.

I went with the cheapest M12x1.5 tapered seat closed end hex (not tuner style splined) chrome solid ones I could find. I replaced them on 3 different Fords (2012 Fusion, 2015 Fusion, 2017 Escape).

Costco screwed mine up and I got the same deal, they wouldn't do rotations unless I replaced them.

I know they suck, the capped ones, but not where I live. I have 26 year old cars with them still and they are fine. They can expand if you live where it frequently is humid and rains and stuff.

Hi emerson. Then you need M12x1.5 size, 19MM hex size, acorn bulge, chromed lug nuts. Information is in your Owners Manual. Look in the Index under "Lug nuts".

I would recommend the Gorilla chromed lug nuts, since they will use the same size lug wrench as comes with your Fusion...i.e.19mm - 3/4 (Not 13/16 - 21mm, as I previously stated).

EDITED- You need a 19mm hex size. I believe that will be Gorilla part# 41137 or 41137 HT of heat treated. However, call them and double check that information first.

You can/should call Gorilla and confirm that.

I normally recommend McGard for locking lug-nuts. However, their regular lug nuts do not come in a 21mm size hex size, so you would either need to buy another lug wrench, or carry a socket adapter in your car to remove them in case of a flat.

There are other manufacturers. You can simply go to your local big box auto store (AutoZone etc.) and ask them for chromed lug nuts that will fit your Fusion.

Whatever, you do, do not buy capped lug nuts. That is what the factory lug nuts are, and is why many owners eventually have problems with them. The cap can deform annd cause removal/installation issues.

The hex on all mine are 19, this is the lug wrench from my 2012:


This is comparing my old to the ones I used to replace them. My daughter got hosed in the cost department for replacements for hers.

Hi bangster. You are correct. I forgot that the 2006-2012 Fusion/MKZ lugnuts were a different hex size than the 2013+. Then there are the other size variables on the 2017+ Fusion Sport and MKZ 3.0T models.But I digress.

In fact, for use with my torque wrench, I have a 19mm socket for my 2007 MKZ, and a 21mm socket for my 2018 MKZ. But alas, brain fog kicked in and I forgot.

So if he wants to be able to use the factory lug wrench, the OP will need to look for 19mm hex size lug nuts, I believe that would be 3/4 in SAE sizing. But no one should take my word on that, so double check.
They can likely be found on the same Gorilla website, or even using McGard lugnuts. I'm old fashioned and find it is best to call the company and simply ask them to help you get the correct lug nuts for your particular car.

Or for people not sure, just go buy 20 chromed lug nuts (non-capped), at an AutoZone etc., where you can talk to someone and return them easily if they recommend and sell you the wrong size.

Yeah, all Fusions except the 2017+ Sport and MKZ have the M12x1.5 and 19mm hex. The Sport with the 2.7 GTDI and 2017+ MKZ have M14x1.5 which are more likely to have the 21mm (13/16) hex.

If you want the wheels to fall off...

Lug nuts should be dry threads to torque properly, anti seize should only go on the face of the wheel/hub.

What bangster stated. No anti-seize, no lubricants etc. Simply clean the lugs if necessary. Usually also specifically states so in the Owners Manual.

Hi folks, I am here again, thank you for all the answers, but I still have issues here, please see the picture below.

So, the Lug nut I bought from amazon did not fit in my Fusion.

But all the others I see on Amazon look like the ones that I bought.

What wheels do you have, steel wheels with the silver cover? How do they not fit? Is that step for attaching the wheel covers?

That lug nut is a mag/flat seat. I have a set of them for the spare tire from a Lincoln LS.


The steel wheel that takes that flat seat looks like this, no tapered seat on the wheel (and these are hub centric):


And this is what all but a few of my Fords lug holes look like (my 2000 Expedition took mag/flat seat style lugs with the aluminum wheels it has):

Hi emerson. I don't think we realized from your original posts that you have wheel covers (well, at least I did not realize...🙃). They require a different type of lug-nut. Your wheel covers are held on by the lip at the 0.54" mark in the photo of your factory lug-nuts.

The lug-nuts you purchased are designed for regular aluminum wheels without a decorative wheel cover, therefore they do not have that lip to hold on a wheel cover.

You need to purchase lug-nuts designed for a Fusion with wheel covers.

Maybe that is why I see so many running around minus the wheel covers, those are expensive suckers. Around $6 a piece, finding sets of 10 for $60-110 in eBay. I had a car that took specific lug nuts for mounting a center cap, luckily they were similar in price to the regular ones, or it would have been bye bye center caps.
