Has anyone tried to install fog lights / driving lights in the slots on the front of an I-4 or an SE yet? Either the ones from Ford for the SEL with the chrome or an aftermarket set that looks good?

i don't like the SEL ones with the rectangular Chrome peice.. if it's plastic and chrome, bugs will kill that plastichrome ina few years easily....

i'd rather paint my black plastic to match the car and stick some projector beams in there...

I'm with you, the chrome Plas-tik looks rather cheesy, enough chrome on the grille already. Black or body colored would hold up better against the bugs and stone chips, on my S model I've cut out the back of the Driving light bucket to feed cold air directly into the cold air unit. I don't like waiting for the aftermarket to gear up and produce some parts.

I must disagree. The ones on the SEL are great lights, the chrome surrounding enhances the light. The chrome surrounding mold on the lighting help out on those dark nights, long lonely highways, rainy days, and fog obcourse. These lights gave me great visibility of the floor on my trip to Pahrump, Nevada via California's 127 HWY, 178 HWY, and Nevada's 372 HWY at 11PM. Ford's Fusion lighting is so good I did not need the high beams on the whole trip. Yeah I love the SEL lights. :bigok:

One of the criteria for the purchase of our Milan was to include the Fog Lamps and happy that we did. Just coming back from a trip to the coast, we hit heavy fog (10-ft visibility) and the fog lamps really help light the road just in front of the car. I have also used them in good weather and they really aid in night visibility confidence. I believe the stock units would be a great and useful add on.

I talked to one of the Mechanics at my dealer and he said not an easy job either way, but if someone has a big wallet anything can be done, he talked about relays and the need of some code from Ford for it to all work together.   hehehe

I added fog lamps with the chrome bezels It costed me $157 to buy the parts and then I wired them straight into my side marker lamps so they come on automatically with the parking lamps. It turned out GREAT. No problem at all, took about 2 hours start to finish. So far there is not a simple way to wire the fog lamps the "factory way". The wiring is just no there for the fuse box or the relay. Works and looks GREAT though! It sure beats the black blank covers that really scream out that you bought the cheap version of the Fusion!

2 questions.
1. what fog/driving lights did you use? I priced the factory lights at the dealership and they are like $60.00 a peice.
2. do you think the fuse on the parking lights will handle the extra power draw if you leave the lights on all the time?

Well, I work at a Ford Dealer so I got everything at cost, sorry I forgot about that when I posted it. I have had the lamps wired this way for 2 weeks now and it works fine, I have them on all the time, no problems...

I was thinking of doing something similar... instead of the side markers... i was thinknig of wiring some fog lams [parhaps HID fogs] to the headlamps.... which ultimately sohlud be having similar volatage/current on to both....? what do you think? should it work?

two more question?  when you wired the fog lights in did you use a relay inbetween while doing your wiring? and did you install a factory type light switch?  thanks again.
